This is a great resource for all things
vinyl. I ordered a pro-ject turntable, some belts
and Ortofon cartridges from them. They are really
reliable. The question is how much high fidelity
do you really need when listening to bands like Blasphemy?
Check out some of the high end stylus.
Do you really think the human ear
is capable of distinguishing the Lyra Skala 3,555 US dollars)
from mid range Ortofon?
I think it's bullshit, even for classical music.
Some of the shit on that site is unreal........

Very true, and I have a good one, but
I just think some of that 5,000 dollar
stylus shit is a gimmick for prople with disposable
income. Or, it could be that the subtleties of my
hearing are not developed enough to appreciate them

For some people it seems to be a big deal. For me, I'm happy with a good player/stylus that won't fuck up my records and decent speakers.

So I've been thinking about selling my Technics table for a Pro-Ject table since I really shouldn't be using a DJ table... thoughts on the Debut-III and a good cartridge?

Excellent turntable. I think due to previous posts
some of the people here own one.
5 Years and no problems. The platter is nice and heavy.
The only button is the on/off which is under the turntable.
I just got the cheapest Ortofon cartridge.
I have never had a record skip on this machine.

If it's a Technics SL-1200, you've got a great turntable already. They were originally designed as hi-fi 'tables, so they're not just "DJ tables".

I almost bought this table, but I found a MusicHall MMF 2.1 on Craigslist for an excellent price. I fucking LOVE mine. This and the Rega are very similar to the Pro-Ject.

You do know that turntables of this type are completely manual, right? Like, to change from 33 to 45, you have to remove the platter and adjust the belt. And there is no auto return. You have to move the arm yourself. I actually like this style much better, that is why I bought it.

Yeah I'm aware of the belt needing to switch out. I like that more honestly, less shit to break and what not. I'm thinking about getting one of the red (low-end $99) "2M" Ortofon cartridges with a green Pro-Ject debut III. Dunno though. There is something about the simplicity of the D3 that is really intriguing... and by the way, my Technics is a 1210M5G.

This. Except mine I got for free, and it's a fucking Thomas(as in Thomas Edison) replica, it's speakers are built in and instead of having left/right stereo channels, it has front/back channels. Needless to say, it sounds like SHIT
