Yeah, actually better than expected! Some of those songs would be great to see live.

The compression on this is not nearly as bad as on the latest Destroyer 666 record, for example. Asphyx always had a pretty loud (but much dirtier) production, anyway. I think the production on this sounds OK... better than the Hail Of Bullets record, at any rate.

I think DtBW is great, definitely a worthy successor to "On The Wings of Inferno" and "Feeding on Angels"!

An extreme amount of compression actually can produce physical pain. Someone sporting a flac avatar should be aware of sound issues like that. What's the point of having a flac rip of an album compressed to shit?

Unfortunately many modern albums (and album remasters) fall victim to the loudness wars going on in the music industry. Of course, a blocked out wavelength doesn't necessarily indicate an overly compressed, too-loud master either.

I could not answer that question because I bought the original.

I agree, and not only that, nuance and dynamics to the album are totally lost!

I didn't understand this. FLAC is just lossless compression, meaning you can get the original sound quality. Compression in that case refers to bytesize. It has nothing to do with sonic compression?

Looks like someone sporting knowledge on FLAC should be aware of that... Laughing

I learned about FLACs from the Demilich page. Hadn't heard of them before that. In practice, they're an awesome way to swap OOP/bootlegs.

My point was that for somebody who seems to be so supportive of the highest quality of digital transfer, it seems odd that other means of audio inferiority would not also spark ire. If you are against 128kbps bit rates, then you should also be against shitty mixing techniques, as they both pose a tremendous detriment to audio fidelity.
