I have a friend who used to have a huge CD collection (2000+) and he kept them in special 'books' where you could put your CD's together with the front and backcover but without the jewel case. An elegant solution if space is getting problematic.

i tried that once, and the CDs get bit scratched, not sure if the quality the "CD book"...

Yes the CDs get damaged. Those books are not a great solution

I agree I have a couple of those CD books and from personal experience they will fuck up your CDs, so now I just store them in the jewel case. I put my digipacks in ziplock bags.

I just use a couple real nice black bookshelves that I got at wal mart for $29.99 each... They look nice and are easy to put together and not very heavy if you need to move them around. LP's also fit nicely in them.

That's my CD collection nowadays:

Not pictured are all COUNTESS CDs

Will get rid off all CDs sooner or later (still have about 200, mostly promo cds in printed jackets), just need the time to sell/trade them...

Here's my set up:

The CD shelves are stainless steal and basically just one piece of welded metal. I paid a bit more for them but they're pretty much going to last longer than I am so money well spent

Where did you get your shelves? I noticed you're from the UK and I could use some as they'll come in handy (want both LP and CD shelves)

Here you go
I got the CD shelves from here:

http://www.reddisplays.com/

They were a little pricey as I purchased 4 (they all bolt together) but as they have a lifetime guarantee I thought it would be worth it.

The vinyl cubes you can see in the photo came from a company called icube althought their site seems to be down at the moment.

Quite antique and useful.
