O think each shelf is too tight...

No, they have the perfect size.

It sucks when you keep cd's in alphabetically order and wants to add one more Asphyx, Autopsy, Ancient Rites, Acheron or Anima Damnata to colletcion Very Happy

Just make sure to leave som "air". I re-arrange all the CDs like 2-3 times a year - maximum.

Same goes for my Billy shelves with the wooden CD-holders (80cm width of the shelf, up to 800 CDs). I have to re-arrange once a year.

Sadly Ikea stopped the production of the wooden CD-holders for the Billy shelf... Sad

Anyone have a shelf/storage system that protects/covers the cds + doesnt cost the earth?

I had a fire at home 18 months ago, and you'd be surprised how easy it is to damage cds/inlays with a bit of smoke.

I have two storage units with roller-shutter doors, but cant see many for sale elsewhere.

Would help if they are in the UK..

Cheers.

Ikea's "Jarna" shelves were the BEST for CDs. They were hardwood, not laminate, and have real glass sliding doors. Each holds 115 CDs, and they were only $20 US each. Too bad I only bought 4. I need at least 4 more (not all my CDs are pictured). They quit making these a couple years ago.

I am eventually going to get a glass-door cabinet that holds like 1500.

And... The Expedit for Vinyl.

Here is mine... There are about 50 CDs that need to be added. I keep everything in alphabetical order, and finally (as you can see) realized the importance of leaving about 4-5 open spaces in each section so it's easier to add CDs without moving everything.

Samhain box set includes full length CDs and a live album + comic book and a live VHS.

Answers above -

the jar is full of locust exoskeletons I find on the trees in my yard, and the Samhain box is everything they ever did. It came out 10-12 years ago.

My small Metal collection.

Those IKEA's Benno CD-towers are the best and they are cheap as well.

I use Benno myself. I have eight of them, and they're fine. But of course it's annoying when the shelves are getting full and you have reorganize the whole thing to make room for one Autopsy cd.

Yeah my knees lock when I do that. Laughing

I have OCD about these things so I keep them alphabetically, though I've seperated them into different sub genres these days.

I tried the different genre thing and it's a bitch
the kneelock thing was awesome. I suffer from that as well.
If i'm trying to fit that Autopsy CD in and there's no more room I
use the "lay it horizontally over the a-section technique."

I don't even attempt to put my CDs in alphabetical order the CD tower I have holds around 550 CDs, so I still have 3 shelves to fill.

I got tired of looking at them in alpha-order around 2005 so I put them into order based on the color/style/font/etc. of the spines. I can't find the pictures but it was interesting.
