Actually, they've had the laser turntable for a while- it's called a "compact disc" player! I mean, can you still call it analog if there's not actual, physical reproduction of sound? As a famous sage once said- "only analog is real"!

All snobbery aside, it does look pretty fucking cool...

i inquired about this a while ago to them, requested a demo cd of how it sounds and some more in depth info on it, they never responded.

Never seen anything like it...about a year ago I saw a record player that could record onto CDR.

I've read that these have difficulty playing transparent vinyl - especially clear ones.

I can not hold a $ 100.oo order to NWN, so I don´t see too many chances to hold on one of these Laser Turntable...
If prices were lower !!!

The Laser Turntable System

Laser Turntable has Five Laser Beams

The first two beams aim at the left and right shoulders of the groove for tracking.
The next two read the stereo sound at 10 microns below the shoulder (the standard position).
The final beam maintains the height between the laser head and the surface of record, to manage thicker or warped records.
Laser Reads New Audio Information
The same audio information is engraved from the shoulder to the bottom of a record groove. Audio information read by the laser is 10 microns below the shoulder (see below). Therefore, the laser is picking up audio information which never been touched/damaged by a needle. It plays the virgin audio information on the groove without an digitization
