Cultes des Ghoules.
When Haxan came out bored the living shit out of me, regardless of this, for some reason I feel the need to give Henbane a listen, and this one became an instant classic on my book and in my top five list of 2013.
I still can't get into Haxan and maybe never will, however... Henbane/Spectres over Transylvania are a mandatory monthly listen.

come to think of it, most of my favorite bands these days won by getting that kind of '2nd chance'. its really worth it sometimes

Of course it's not as simple as that but often the stuff that clicks with you instantly gets boring quite soon whereas something that requires more listening effort stays with you.

Hopefully this will catch on.
