anyone get a chance to check this out?

the full length album is fantastic. Not really into funeral doom but this album is great.

Mikko's vocals on this album is like a beast from hell.

Great album and sick atmosphere. I'm not really eager on the genre, but this is the best funeral doom I've heard in years.

Wasn't overly keen on this one. I find the demo and split contributions to contain the more interesting music.

Excellent album. My only complaint is that it's too short.

"Funeral Doom" is indeed a stillborn genre, besides a couple of brilliant exceptions to the rule (most notably WORSHIP!), but STABAT MATER are simply GREAT!! This may even be their best effort so far!

solid band/release but nothing ever particularly amazing imo...
for that i'd go to thergothon, skepticism, mournful congregation, worship (max era), disembowelment, hierophant, evoken...

Esoteric owns them all.

Esoteric really is the best in this field by miles...but Mournful Congregation and Evoken are both superb bands also. All 3 of these bands are getting better every release IMO. I particularly like that Esoteric have a really aggressive side that comes out at times...even at a slower pace. Aggro Doom is the business!!

Actually I found this SM album quite a vast improvement on previous music of their's I'd heard. Actual songs with real arrangements this time rather than 2/3 riffs done to death for 10 to 20 mins....
