Got my Blood Oath pre-order in the mail yesterday. Must say, this new Suffo album is damn good! better than I was anticipating... I wish the shirt it came with was 2 sided, but considering the price of the whole thing, damn good value... like the graphic and it being on a red shirt...

the trading cards of the band members though!?!? haha.. wtf is that all about

also find it irritating that they have released 3 versions of this CD all with different bonus tracks...not a big deal but still, why!? ...damnit

Without Doug Cerrito, Suffocation are nothing. I've not checked the new one out, but I've not liked anything post-Despise the Sun so far, so I can't see this one floating my boat either.

Succinct analysis. Production on the new one is great however.

I ordered it, haven't received yet though. So no thoughts as of yet, but I like the cover art and the samples I've heard.

My understanding on the bonus tracks (from Metal Archives) is that they are all rough mixes and instrumental versions. I really couldn't care less about that kind of thing. If there were different songs on these CDs it would bug me.

Yes I agree 100%, Cerrito era Suffocation is/was the best shit they ever did (same can be said about Hate Eternal Razz ) ...Chris Richards' bass lines were sick too

That understood, the latest incarnation with Mike Smith back behind the kit, and Boyer on bass... they sound like a solid stable band again, and I like it for what it is... the solos on this album are not nearly as shredding which is lame, haven't bothered to see which one of them is responsible for that ..but I'm guessing its Guy M. hehe...

SUFFOCATION is one of the few old dinosaurs capable of showing kids how DEATH METAL was meant to be played!

The cover looks great, maybe a Seagrave effort?

I was going to pick that up today, but the
Reissue of Venom's Black metal with radio one extras won the battle.
Effigy is my favorite death metal album of
all time with Breeding the Spawn a close second.
Contrary to most opinions I love the sound on that record.
Anyway back to topic I heard on solo on the new suffo record
and it was amazing, short, sweet and fit the song perfectly.

I listened to this album a couple of time when it "leaked".
My first impression was good ! I should give it a few more
listens but I don't think my opinion on this will change.
To say the least decent job.

+2

And this is my favorite album since Effigy. I wish he would have been able to cup the mic though because his gutturals come out low.

Exactly. I will have to buy the new album, but I have much respect for Suffocation hopefully I will be able to catch the band live sometime in the future.
