| Really enjoying the first In Solitude album. Just pure heavy metal and not too flashy. Mercyful Fate worship of course, but not as blatant as Portrait. Are there any band's playing this type of style as well that I may have missed the boat on? |

I'd like something similar to In Solitude as well. The S/T is fucking great, and the follow up is good too.
Natur have somewhat of a similar vibe at times, though I wouldn't call them Mercyful Fate worship.
Nothing else really comes to mind aside from Portrait. |

Self titled is a fantastic album, I really think they found a sound with The World, the Flesh, The devil however.

Are you only looking for new bands playing this style? If not, the 80's had bunches of these "heavy metal and not too flashy"-bands.
And you should definitely check out the second album of In Solitude if you haven't already.

This band is boring beyond belief. Pretty decent live, but on record it's utter shite. Theres no bite or sting to it, just a snoozefest of dimensions. NEXT
