Half a kilo of pineapple makes for a good breakfast. 666.

I thought the post was interesting, but it is driving me crazy that the title isn't "unprecedented brilliance."

I didn't mind this press at all, in fact I rather liked the layout, the A4 was a bit odd but it worked for what it was worth... From first glance, the Purtenance layout manages what structural/design flaws the Excruciate release experience and improves upon those areas.

I love the newly announced upcoming releases... both Crypt of Kerberos & Sigh are well deserving of wax. I scrounged up Fred Norrman's (former Uncanny guitarist) email and from what I've heard he's given a response back to Ted... Hopefully the stars can align and we'll get an official licensed double LP comp of the Uncanny album & demos.

Yeah, but nothing is certain yet... unfortunately. Cross your fingers though.

The only problem I see is that with something like Utumno, there might not be a CD reissue and it deserves to be a more widespread than a limited nerd vinyl

vic records bought the rights
http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/vic-records/358640-utumno.html
but since they delay every release it will probably out in a couple of years Laughing

I remember hearing that they would be doing a Leukemia CD but I don't know if it ever came out. If it did, it got crappy distribution in the US.

Anyway, don't know if these are old news or if anyone else has seen them, but a couple new things have been added to The Crypt's list:
"CRYPT OF KERBEROS (Swe): MCMXCI-MCMXCIII Discography Official 2 LP set - TBA
SIGH (Jap): Infidel Art (Original album mix + Unreleased Band Mix + The Shadowing) Official Triple Gatefold 3-LP set - TBA"

I'm especially interested in Crypt of Kerberos, especially if it includes the LP that wasn't on the CD from a few years ago. I'm not so sure all that could fit on just two LPs, though.
The Crypt of Kerberos just fits on 2 LPs yes, even with the bonus tracks.

I thought this review of Excruciate was a great one and I do appreciate all of the feedback, even thrashbeast who clearly didn't get enough attention from mommy and daddy as a child, thus seeks it here. Yes, I did release Maudlin of the Well and Novembers Doom on CD years ago, and now I'm not. That was then. This is now. Get over it.

Yes I do plan on improving with each release, doing the best I can do out do myself, Utumno will most likely be released on CD by Vic Records, but I think there is a possibility he may license it to another label. Thanks for all of the support and comments! ~ Ted

A truthfully honest review from a record collector. Good constructive criticism is what helps improves things. I would agree the seams at the bottom is not glued together as well as it should and i would believe Ted will improve with each release. Keep up the good job!

Thanks, yes I used semi-gloss stock for the Excruciate to make it more like the original CD booklet, but from now on will only use reverse board stock to avoid that problem as it is more porous and will hold the glue. Plus it looks a lot nicer. It was my first time so I guess trial and error is the best way for me to improve.

Use exactly the same paper for covers and same printing plant as with Excruciate. I meant that the cover is not spacious enough (NOT that the paper is too glossy and not porous enough to hold glue Smile ) - it's that the spines must be broader, so that it wont come off at seams - that's all. dont experiment with other stock papers and never reverseboard - do covers just like the Excruciate one - it's perfect for reissuing old lps cause it looks JUST like the original, and that's the mutual point here, isn't it?

Well yes but I did some research and the glue actually doesn't hold as well on the semi gloss stock because it has a clay coating whereas the reverse board is fibrous and in my opinion does look a lot classier. Also, the spine was 3mm which is standard even for heavy vinyl, and the next size up is 5mm, which is used more for double LPs and would be too spacious for just one LP, allowing more possibility for seam splitting during shipment from the manufacturer. Besides, without experimentation, it is difficult to make improvements =)

Nothing solid yet, still in talks, but I know Fred doesn't want to redo both old demos, however he may consider adding Nyktalgia with the LP. Will post more news as we get it.

For the next one you should use a thinner jacket and simulate ring wear and expose the LPs to dust before sending them out for a truly old school feel.

Also, I don't see any shame in releasing Novembers Doom stuff.

Yes, I may consider doing that, and I have no shame in any of our past releases. I took pride for 13 years releasing albums like that, I've just moved on to other things now. It's all about the metal afterall.
