Anyone listen to SON OF EARTH? Just picked up the s/t cd (i believe NWN still stocks this) and it's fucking massive death metal. A really great listen... very heavy, dark, old style death metal of the highest quality. _________________ Helcaraxë - Death Metal

Agreed. I was unfamiliar with this band, had a hard time getting any
info so it was more or less a blind pick. A nice surprise. |

Man that sounds weird. Is the drummer actually playing differently or is the kit just mixed and mic'ed badly? During all the parts you'd expect a d-beat or thrash beat, it sounds like he's only playing kick drum - the snare disappears. Really strange effect. The band is on the dull side anyway, unfortunately. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

Graveless' demo is a good one, indeed. Interesting riffs and nice vocals, but it somehow lacks in having memorable songs. I hope they add some catchiness in the future releases.

It's my feeling now I have the tape,
it's not bad... But the myspace song had an opening riff that came back riffing in my head... I don't feel that yet with the other songs of the tapes... We'll see... _________________ NIHILISTIC HOLOCAUST: Underground Tape label/ webzine:

What country is that NOT true of? There's always a high ratio of crap to gold in any genre, any scene, etc. Sweden happens to have an assload of metal bands, more than a lot of countries, but they've also produced a bunch of my favorites (won't bother listing). So I think they're doing pretty well. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

Got that CD with my last NWN-order. the first two bands that came to my mind were slow "Repulsion" mixed with "Morbus Chron". Pretty dirty release, with a strange production, but some really good songs. _________________ Tradelist + Good Traders:

never said they didn't have a few gems amongst the pile of stinky eggs they produce, but then again the US probably has an even higher ratio of crap vs gold when it comes to Metal, Sweden though out of all the Europeeen countries is the the most guilty of this, |

I think I'll throw that on the pile of "shit people say without ever planning to back it up with actual facts." _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

That's a dumb fucking argument and you know it. The US has produced almost five times that many bands: http://www.metal-archives.com/index.php Are you going to go to the mat for all fourteen thousand-plus of those? Admit you're irrationally biased and move on.

Pathetic in what sense - that the UK can't generate as robust of a metal scene? _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |
