Sanctum is getting back together for a final tour in Spring of 2010. US tour that is. I just got a bunch of copies of the LP version of their only LP if people want...

This is actually pretty good stuff, heavy as fuck and the sound is great! I can't help but feel that stuff like this only has a limited appeal though. Also isn't there a Dutch Warmaster that do the Bolt Thrower thing as well?

The band Audio Kollaps also utilizes extreme Crust with massive Bolt Thrower parts. Even some few Finnish-styled Death Metal parts as well. Their "Panzer" LP/CD is awesome.

Realm of Chaos is another new band in this style:

those vocals ruin the whole package.

Yeah, I agree... that vocal style is not to my taste at all! They have some decent riffs, though.

Another (mid-period this time) BT-style band to check out is Weak Aside:

Again, great riffs but rather inappropriate vocals! Theirs don't bother me nearly as much as the vocalist from Realm Of Chaos, though. You get used to it pretty fast. It's quite the catchy album, actually...

maybe it's because it's a female vocalist, and they broke up a year ago or something like that. they are from my home town.

It's not that she's female so much as it is that those screamed/punkish vocals don't really fit Realm Of Chaos' music all that well, IMHO. The vocals are fine in and of themselves, but to me they kinda detract from this kind of atmosphere.

Ain't that the truth. Some of these bands are great in their own right (Sanctum, West Wall), but the original still blows everything else away!

I happen to really like Drown In Blood from Germany who play in the Bolt Thrower style with some old Swedish DM sound mixed in. They are basically fantastic in my opinion.

Listen particularly to the self-titled song, "Drown In Blood"
