Vlad tepes/Belketre : March to the black holocaust, i'm pretty sure it's on a 4 or 2 tracks.
Their satanic majesties request from the Stones, a great album for sure (along with Aftermath and beggars banquet), but no metal stuffs... |

I read somewhere that that was a myth perpetrated by the band, and it was actually recorded in quite a decent studio; the sound on the recording is very raw, but it's also very very clear so I could believe that. |
That wouldn't suprise me actually. I've seen an interview with Garm where he pretty much said that Ulver originally played black metal to be "in with the crowd". Which not only is it gay, but it's made worse by the fact that they're pretty much the best Norwegian BM albums!!! |

No, it wasn't perpetrated by the band, actually Garm set these rumours (like the famous one that it was recorded in the woods) straight in one old interview, stating that the album was done in a very professional studio and that they spent a lot of time to get that sound. _________________ Alone Wankyng |

There are so many uneducated and embarassing people out there who actually make really great music that I stopped caring meantime. It's the music and what you make out of it respectively what it means to you which counts. |

I agree there, but I think when you know that it was only made so the band could fit in with a certain social group I think that takes something away from it. As you say though, the music carries itself. |

Arckanum's Trulen-Demo was recorded on 4 tracks. Just compare it with the same songs on the Debut produced by Tägtgren... |

Ahh, I always thought that Natten's Madrigal sounded a little too "studio". Shame on the popularity basis of the band. |

Quote: | Did anyone ever consider the fact that you can hear the tape machine clicking off - like someone hitting the stop button... this is on Transilvanian Hunger... second track I think. Tape machines don't usually record the noise of the stop machine.. |
