I wish I had more time there last year to visit his grave and Helvete. Too bad Helvete is located far from Bergen. .

Why are people laughing? If I ever get the chance to go to Norway, this is would be a priority on my list of things to do, as I think it would be for anyone who's serious about enthusiasm for Metal.

If it wasn't for Euronymous, I have a feeling half you fucking trolls wouldn't even be here. All those old Norwegians (Necrobutcher and Hellhammer being the worse) that bad mouth him now, all followed in his footsteps and licked his ass when he was alive.

Idolatry is the epitome of metal indeed. It differs us from religion which we all hate.

I would check out the graves of quite a few individuals if given the chance. Hendrix, Mark Twain, and indeed Mr. Aarseth as well. Though it might seem like total gay fanboyism it certainly isn't any worse than paying $300 for a Deathcrush demo that may or may not have Euronymous' real handwriting on the tape or whatever.

I don't hate religion.

I hate dumb logic -- dumb interpretations of religion, dumb interpretation of philosophy, dumb interpretations of metal (Velvet Caccoon).

There's no point hating religion as a whole. A smart religion wouldn't bother you, right?

I mean, after all, this is the genre that shoved Odinism and new age Satanism down our throats.

There is a different between idolatry and respect (which I think is important within Black Metal, but seriously lacking today). The notion of equality however, I don't think has any place in Black Metal. We know some are better than others and praising the ones who are and looking to them for inspiration isn't idolatry. One doesn't have to idolize anyone to visit their grave anyway.

Oh and yes, I don't hate Religion. I'm not a 15 year old Marilyn Manson fan.

If I were in Norway I think I'd visit the grave. Not so much out of respect or idolatry, but merely interest. It's something of a historical site in black metal, which is one of my interests, just like I'd go see the ziggurat of Ur because Mesopotamian history is one of my interests.

Good point. Or just: reverence.

I don't hate religion either. I myself am not overtly religious but it wouldn't be an issue for me if it didn't bother me.

As for black metal forcing Satanism and Odinism down our throats. When was the last time a black metaller stood on a street corner and ranted at the error of our ways? You don't have to buy their releases, they just say what they believe in.

For self righteousness, I only really see it in NSBM anyway.

Wasn't Anders from CADAVER giving a "tour" of Norwegian black metal landmarks at one time?
