I was having an exchange with a guy from this board and came to a discovery that there was a manufacturing flaw wiht the original Marble pressed version of 'Hvis...' on Misanthropy.

2nd side towards the end of track 3 and start of track 4. Looks like a 1.5mm wide scratch that is about 20mm long with two smaller scratches next to it.

I always thought I must have done something to mine, but couldn't work out what as I am pretty conservative with LPs. When I saw that DestructSEAN was looking for a replacement for his I asked why...

Anyone else experience this problem?

My copy doesn't have any scratches of some sort on the LP. I didn't know that there was a defect on the original pressing. Does this affect ALL of the copies and what was the defect, anyways?

I don't know if all copies had it, but I found someone with the exact same problem mine has. Thus my questions ha ha.

I'm talking marble wax, Misanthropy pressing from 1994 or '95. I've had it since then.

Yeah it plays, but you'd definitely notice this... Must be a small anomaly.

Thanks!

I'll have to check if I have the *exact* same problem, but from memory there was definatly a problem on track 3 on side B from mine which caused a "clicking" sound through the end of the song. It plays fine, just this fucking popping sound. It looks like maybe a 1cm long scratch in the vinyl. It was like this when I bought it...

I'll try and maybe post a picture of it later...

There must have been some sort of defect at the pressing plant? Maybe not all copies were effected, but its strange to see that not only Blood and Thunder and myself have similar problems with the vinyl.

Its a real shame too, because this is a fucking classic album!!!! At least I have it on original jewel case cd as well as the digipak Wink

Yes, when this came out I bought a copy, then sold it because of the scratch, bought another copy and it had the same thing going on. I just thought that I had been especially clumsy with two LPs but there you go...

Well, even though this sucks to hear - at least I know that its fairly "common", so I will keep my copy for sure and be very carefull in the case that I ever decide to invest in another one at some point.

At least I am not the only one!

I have this available for the right trade. Never had a problem when I played this, but to be sure I just now examined side 2 and there isn't any flaw as described.

It's on my tradelist. Has a split in the spine.

I know this happens on CDs. Nordvrede - Northern Frontlines and I think Mareritt - Hymner Til Doden Og Morket suffered as well. Not inconceivable that a mechanical error can cause problems like that.

Out of curiosity, how long have you had your copy? Did you buy it in NZ?

Yeah, I bought this 2nd hand from a shop in Hamilton! That was about 3 -4 years back. A couple of blokes opened a record store there, carried alot of mostly used Metal/Punk/HC vinyls. Real good blokes too. Wasn't opened that long and closed after a matter of months (maybe a year of more) Was a real Aladins cave and I made several journeys there.

As well as the Burzum LP I got a few other major scores for very good prices. Sadistik Exekution The Magus LP, Darkthrone Soulside Journey original 1st press LP, Gospel Of The Horns Sinners demo, Vomitor Roar of War demo, Autopsy Severed Survival original LP plus alot of other cool stuff.

I decided to put this up for trade, so I hope those guys arn't offended with me trying to "profit" from their sale to me. None of the other stuff I will ever trade or sell.

I bought this when it came out from Misanthropy as a wholesale to my mailorder back in the 90s, and I just checked my copy, and there are no marks on the vinyl and no jumps.
