I've never been to The Asylum before, but I'm told it's pretty good. Cerebral Fix are rumoured to be the support... well, at least Bolt Thrower will be good! Wink

Yeah, that it's sold-out.

Saw Bolt thrower in Germany this weekend. Absolutely killer show as always.

Though I don't live that far from here, I'm going to be VERY busy around this time sadly.

Besides it's sold out anyway... Sad

It looks like I'm going to lose my job because of this gig! Meh, worth it.

Getting there early I think, like early/mid afternoon. I'll send you my number, beer's sounds like a plan!

Well, we were informed that doors were opening at 6, so we arrived there before 6, to be told they were opening at 6.30 and then 7. Piss poor organisation on behalf of the organiser there. As soon as we got in we found out that all the realistically sized merchandise was sold out, which was a shame as I was hoping to replace my red-now turning pink Bolt Thrower shirt. We had stayed in the pub well past 7 to avoid Beholder, who ended up taking the stage after 8, and were easily one of the worst bands I've ever witnessed. Ill fitting to the line-up, and piss poor musically.

As Benediction have always epitomised the weaker part of early 90s death metal to me, I ignored them and sat outside drinking. However, when I did pass through they did sound a lot better and heavier than on their recordings, but still weren't interesting enough to make me want to pay them any attention.

Bolt Thrower took the stage and from the moment they started playing they absolutely obliterated (what I had seen of) the other bands of the night. They played all the classics, and I thought it was funny that even acknowledged ripping their own riffs off by seguing World Eater into Cenotaph. The band had lots of energy and performed flawlessly, the sound was absolutely crushing as well, my only complaint was that there were absolutely no highs in the bass drums, and the bottom end sounded a mess whenever there were any double bass sections. The highlight for me was definitely "In Battle There Is No Law", which I didn't expect!

All in all, it was worth the fee just for Bolt Thrower, the weather held out so I didn't mind sitting outside chatting to mates while the other bands were on. Also I should thank the guy who handed me a flyer for an Anaal Nathrakh/Trigger The Bloodshed gig telling me that "This is true metal! It's the real deal!", because I've not laughed that hard in a long time. It was also great to catch up with Callum and meet some new people. Apologies that I didn't get a chance to say bye, I had to rush off as it finished a lot later than I expected. A fantastic night though!
