This album outshines "Phoenix Rising" EASILY.

I really don't have a problem with PR's production. One of my favorite albums.

So aside from Season Of Mist, are there any other online shops carrying this?

Order it from Costa/Iron Pegasus. He charges 9.50 Euros for the CD.

I am waiting on copies to arrive (already paid so should be here in a few days). It should be a lot cheaper for you than ordering from Europe...

Different question: Which song did D666 cover on the Hammerhawk tribute ? Can't find it anywhere ...

I think it's definitely a grower and the potency of this release grows with consecutive spins. I actually really like the vocals in the mix, though wish the guitars were a little more in the middle. There is some really interesting guitar playing on this album too.

The Bathory-esque vocals on the closing track are soemthing too I think!

I'm still curious about whatever happened to the compilation album of all of their 7" material and some unreleased tracks that was announced a while back but sort of fell off the map. I'd like to have a good quality version of the siren's call or ghost dance finally! The ones floating around the internet that whomever recorded to mp3 are pretty poor quality.

There is a bootleg MC with all of the EP tracks on it. I'd like an official release too, Ghost Dance is my favourite D666 track.

I got the digipak CD today. I think the sound on this is indeed a bit better than the leaked version, but it's still a pretty bad production job. Oh, well, the songs are killer nonetheless.

Why does the back tray list a final song ("The Truth") which isn't on the CD? For those of you who got this already, did you get a CD with that song on it?

D666 (much like one of my other favorite bands Immolation) seem to have widely different production across all of their albums. This follows right along with that tradition. I don't mind this too much although just like the new Razor of Occam the overall mix is a little too busy and polished making it difficult to really hear individual instruments. The sound of any one instrument isn't bad but a little more clarity wouldn't hurt. This is the sort of production that hurts ones ears to listen to it on headphones. Ear fatigue = bad production as far as I'm concerned.

To each their own, I guess. For me it really hurts the record. It's such a crowded, overcompressed mix that every part with vocals and more than 2 guitars is a total mess... the end of "A Path To Conflict" is a "good" example, with lead guitar parts you can't even hear! And who thought the drums needed to be loudest on a D666 record?!

The vocals are hard to make out 60-70% of the time, too. Looking at the booklet, these guys obviously gave a great deal of thought to the lyrics... too bad the producers didn't. Even the two songs which ought to be understandable ("Blood For Blood" and "A Sermon To The Dead") have vocals drowned in reverb.

Oh, well. Hopefully they'll tour, these songs should be amazing live.

I also got a CD without that song on it; sent Season of Mist an email a few days back but no response as yet.

OK, then it's not just me. I also emailed them; hopefully this will get resolved. I didn't order this from overseas just to get the same damn CD I could have bought at the store in another couple weeks! Rolling Eyes

About the extra track missing, I got a copy with that track. It fucking rocks as well. Very fast and heavy.

The track moves so quickly it's over before it begins.
