I don't remember whether this band is hated here or not, but I have copies of the new MCD for sale. PM = info.

Four new/original/exclusive tracks with the 2008 lineup.

Personally I think "Assassins" should be included in the "biggest wimp-out" thread... I like everything up to that one though.

Really, really like Instinct: Decay, not too keen on Assassins though, mostly because of those gang-style shouting vocals but there was something else that I didn't like that about it as a whole I can't really put my finger on. I liked the whole saxophone thing at the end though. What sort of sound has this MCD got? Is it just a continuation of the last record?

no, it's far more aggressive. of the four songs, I would say two are closer to the murky/bestial Instinct style, one is a pop song (like #3 on Assassins), and one is just a total Frost/Fate heavy metal rocker, which is something new.

Oh, great, that sounds cool actually. I'll try and pick this up, based on that description.

I used to really, really, really like Nachtmystium. The self-titled MLP was always tops for me (speaking of - I would love to have that on vinyl).

I liked everything up to Assassins, but it just does not work for me. Too saccharine, too much of seemingly exactly what Blake used to stand against - something he and I have talked about in person. I have then read a few statements by him and Jeff that really belittled fans for thinking the old stuff was better. Everyone has an opinion I guess.

The artwork, the songwriting, the whole direction of Assassins turned me off. Not to mention the fucking saxophone.

Is there really a fucking saxophone on this record?

Yeah, a really long sax SOLO near the end of the LP... to me the record reeks of pandering to the current "psychedelic" revival that hipsters with feathers in their hair and tie dye American Apparel t-shirts are into. Which sucks because I think "Instinct Decay" is a fucking great album...

Eulogy IV was the best from this band for me...haven't really heard much after that, but perhaps I should see what old Blakey is up to...he certainly seems to infuriate the kultsters which is usually a good thing, hehe.
