just received a rare 7" that I had been searching for but it has a price tag on the sleeve. peeled it off and now have some residue. any advice on how to get it off without damaging the cover? the cover itself is not glossy or anything, just a standard sleeve if that helps any.

you can work it out first with a hair drier or a lighter (with VERY rappid moves) and then when it gets hot try to take it out either with your nails or something like a knife. It's tricky though as it may damage the sleeve very easily. Work with VERY delicate moves and ***DO NOT*** try to use ANY liquid-based solution to clean it. (from water to alcohol to whatever is liquid). It's easier when the price tag is still attached to the sleeve but you can try to do it. Finally do not force it, if it doesn't go away then leave it be.

Best defense is a good offense in this situation. The better you do pulling the sticker off the easier it is to remove the residue.

What sometimes helps is to take something slightly adhesive that won't stick to the paper of the album and try to pull the gunk up. I use the barcode sticker thingies off of CDs. Usually not sticky enough to adhere to anything, and usually adhesive enough to pull up other adhesives with some repetition.

hair dryer heat works for most cases. I use a small amount of nail varnish remover for glue remains but be very careful, that stuff can remove the cover as well if you rub too hard

Lighter/ zippo fluid. I've been using this for years and it works every time, no damage.
