|
|
| I'm looking for NEW underground speed metal bands in the style of the old gaurd; with a darker twist like Metal Church, Dark Angel, (old) Metallica, Overkill, Agent Steel, Onslaught, (old) Megadeth and so on. Speed metal is one of my favorite subgenres yet it's not as prevalent as thrash or black metal is now. |

okay you can check Caustic Strike from Sweden
they used to be called Leprosy on their first demo (no, not the 80s Leprosy which was also from Sweden)
sounds pretty much like old Megadeth, Forbidden and such
www.myspace.com/causticstrike
I released both their demos on tape format, still have the 2nd one available
the front man Olof is also in Enforcer (EP on Iron Pegasus) and Corrupt (EP on Blood Harvest)
total support! |

Cause lots of viruses in my pc I cannot open myspac. Is this good band? I wonder. _________________ You'll be implicated in crimes using these evil doppelgangers. Of course the VILLAINS album fits here too somewhat, a great hybrid of everything! |

my thoughts exactly, haha |
Thrash and Speed blur at some point but I don’t consider the two interchangeable terms. To me thrash metal = Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Bulldozer, Aggression, Slayer while speed metal consists of the bands I mentioned earlier. Thrash is stylistically closer to hardcore-punk of the late 70's/early 80's than speed metal is and is heavier, harsher and less refined. |

Metallica "kill em all" sounds more like NWOBHM sped up and more punk influenced. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

| I never liked "Kill 'em All", but I would agree it's their most thrash sounding LP. "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" is easily their apex work, as well as being the cornerstone speed metal albums along side "The Dark". |

I'm the complete opposite. I can't stand anything after Kill em All. I seriously only like that album because they don't sound so chugga chugga. They have their moments here and there on Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets... I prefer the heavy metal approach of their debut. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

pretty much the same here, the main reason that i cant stand metallica is because most of their songs are way longer than actually needed, and it becomes extremely unbearable when there are slow parts in the songs.
i actually like some parts off st anger, but the songs are still way too long, could be a decent album if all the songs were under 4 mins. |
