WAY too much new material for my taste. Their new stuff is just so fucking awful that I don't think buying this for the old stuff would be worth it.

Yeah, I know. But it's the documentary and interview footage that I want to see. Their is a fairly good amount of early stuff on there too. Pretty much everything up until the "Heavy Demons" promo videos is what I like. The "Horned God of the Witches" era tour stuff from '05 looks OK too.

Anyway, I guess I'll order it from Horror Records as soon as Uncle Scam sends my income tax cash.

This band has piss poor distribution in the states....

Yeah I'm going to stock this from Horror Records hopefully soon.

I want to see that old footage also...

Yeah, the more I think about it, it may be worth it for the old material. Some of the best music to have ever come out of Italy can be found on their first two LPs, in my opinion. I absolutely worship their old stuff.

Their first two albums are great, especially Black Mass, but the demo stuff is their best.

I always found their first 2 albums essential, but towards the end of the list for essential Italian music.

I definitely like the first DARK QUARTERER, BLACK HOLE, RUN AFTER TO, BERSERKS, MORTUARY DRAPE, PAUL CHAIN (when he's on) and some more proggy dark stuff like METAMORFOSI and ARPIA more than DEATH SS, but like I said they're still essential, just not at the top of the essential list.

I love a lot of Italian bands, FLIGHT CHARM, OLD YRON, ADRAMELCH, BULLDOZER, NECRODEATH, LORD CRUCIFER, SHINING BLADE, HYAENA, HOCCULTA, ROLLERBALL, THE BLACK, REQUIEM, WOTAN, ABYSMAL GRIEF, BATTLE RAM, JOTENHEIM, DOOMSWORD, etc.

What are some other good Italian bands in vain of Death SS, Black Hole, Mortuary Drape, Necromass, etc? Ones that have similar dark horror and occult vibe and ethereal feelings.

Oh and please don't mention Abysmal Grief. I heard a few tracks and it sounded like Type O Negative or something.

Are The Black any good?

Necrodeath are killer but they could have been from anywhere. Not that "Italian sounding".

ABYSMAL GRIEF, you should look into more than just a couple clips on myspace... dig into an album...

You should check out ARPIA. Check out "aborto" here www.myspace.com/arpia1

I think you will be pleased. Cool

I sell CDRs of their first few demos, but all the money goes right to the band. The first demo is the Doomiest. The other stuff is more prog.

REQUIEM and THE BLACK is recommended, but it's not really all that accessible... really hard stuff to get into I think.

Definitely RUN AFTER TO.

It sounds to me like you're looking for more of MERCYFUL FATE influenced metal than Doom...?

Can you get them to drop the keyboards and record more than 2 songs? Shocked

They're an aquired taste. I like them, but I don't really need to listen to them all the time if you know what I mean.
