Anyone on the board into Industrial tunes from the early UK scene, bands such as Godflesh, Head of David and Pitchshifter?

I personally favour Godflesh (first 3 albums), Pitchshifter (debut and 1st EP). Been just listening to some tunes from Head of David, very good stuff, slightly more tuneful than early Godflesh if you can put it that way.

I want to know of anymore other bands, signed and unsigned with similar styles.

Fire away!

That's like talking about Dimmu Borgir in relation to black metal.

I like industrial music-period. Whether it's the abrasive traditional stuff by Controlled Bleeding and Genocide Organ, or the dancy electro-rock that Skinny Puppy does best.

What i don;t enjoy is the so-called Sunn drone...its boring, period. On the other hand, Japanoise is tolerable. Ironic.

I haven't figured out why Sunn O)))) is so popular. Although I'm the kind of person who enjoys minimalistic music, Sun O)))) just doesn't do it for me....

Laibach's early stuff is also pretty good industrial, as it has a pretty dark sound.

Laibach's late stuffs are also great, imo...
Swans are great too but not sure if they are industrial or not.

Hate industrial, with the exception of a little bit of Ministry. I also liked Skinny Puppy a bit in my teens. Aside from that, I think it's disco for miserable people.

The Grey Wolves, Con-Dom, Genocide Organ, early Haus Arafna (Blut & Children of God) , Throbbing Gristle etc etc if you like Godflesh you might aswell check Big Black - Atomizer LP & Headache 7". Ministry & LARD are much more rock'n'roll oriented. Not really Industrial. BTW early Swans are the shit! Note : EARLY

laibach are just terrible.

I just had a listen to Swans on their Myspace page..minimalist music not quite hard hitting as i expected but has some undertows of melody at times..good but not really what i would enjoy listening for longer periods of time.

Throbbing Gristle is okay except for the vocals - I just can;t get into it. Head of David & Godflesh is still tops to me in terms of industrial. I really can;t find any bands with that similar style anymore.

Killing Joke is exciting and memorable. Haven't had a chance to listen to their latest studio recording despite the critical acclaim for it.

I like Godflesh, some Skinny Puppy ("Too Dark Park" and "Last Rights" mainly) and some Ministry (anything that sounds like thrash). That's about as far as I ever dug into industrial - the few obscure bands I heard were really bad and put me off of digging into it in a serious way. I do own a few other albums though - Pitchshifter, Crawl, Scorn's 1st.

I also like Killing Joke but I don't think of them as industrial. You can clearly see the influence on a lot of their songs, though.

I remember buying the first Fear Factory album in college because I thought industrial + death metal has to = WIN. But it turned out that low rent Ministry + low rent Napalm Death = snooze. I listened to that CD again a couple years ago and threw it out.
