Agalloch - The Mantle is one of my favorite records of all time. Extremely somber and melancholic. Very atmospheric, lots of acoustic guitars and soundscapes, plus clean and harsh vocals. Fucking amazing record, IMO. Pale Folklore is much more rooted in black metal and Ashes Against the Grain is more straight-forward and accessible. Ashes ends on three instrumentals that are purely filler.

I just got the Volahn tape the other day and it is fucking amazing. Highly recommended. Looking forward to the LP on Klaxon.

Is the Volahn tapes still avaiable anywhere?

No - I downloaded it since it is not. But rest assured I will promptly buy the LP as soon as it is out. I have not enjoyed a black metal release that much in a long time.

People usually walk away, I believe they are too much to handle for some haha... The guitarist is really good.

Ah yeah. I remember when you walked away during Ashdautas at the gig in Gardena. Wink

heh. I'm kidding, N.

Poison into the abyss is really good. I wish Costa had used the original LP cover with those skull diamonds. The humpty dumpty cover he used for the DLP was kind of dumb looking.

Haha, yeah, the MLP artwork would've definitely been better.

I'm sure it wasn't really his decision to use the humpty dumpty.

Furdidurk - I haven't heard much outside of their Demo and split with Bone Awl, but from this I can tell you that it is pretty standard "raw Black Metal" in the vein of Ildjarn. It's pretty good, in my opinion it's better than Bone Awl, but I would still take Akitsa and Forteresse over both of these bands.
Bone Awl - Overrated in my opinion. "Raw" again, Ildjarn sound (some people say there is "Punk" and "Oi!" in here, I don't hear it). Harsh, Grim, Raw, ad nauseum.
Agalloch - Ulver/Drudkh Melancholic Black Metal. Some melody, alot of atmosphere and ambience. Not my cup of tea but they aren't a horrible band.
Asunder - Boring "Funeral" Doom. More ambiance, and less heavy shit, it's not a good representation of the Doom genre (but I don't like much Doom so maybe don't listen to me here).
Ashdau - Haven't heard.
Volahn - I liked "Dimensiónes del Trance Kósmico" I would say get it. Klaxon Records Raw style (like mentioned earlier).
Brocas Helm - I have only heard two songs, so I won't pretend like I know this band.

Bone Awl sounds nothing like Furdidurk. Furdidurk is more flowing black metal in the Norse style and less Ho-Down like Bone Awl is. I'm not sure what Bone Awl you're listening to because all Bone Awl is pretty heavily punk sounding to me. I hear a lot of 80's punk like Reagan Youth in their sound.
