Love Mgla and the guys behind it but I could never understand the appeal of Kriegsmaschine. The first 15 minutes of the new album are pretty monotonous, not to say tiresome. Still, I respect the musicians.

Crushing atmosphere and stellar drumwork. A great surprise for a depressing sunday night.

Kriegsmaschine is more about the rhythms, where as Mgla is more about the blending of melodies.

That being said, this is one of the most stellar drum performances I have ever heard.

What a great surprise to wake up to.

The first Kriegsmaschine is a lot different then the current and second albums. When the last album was released at first I thought it just sounded like material that wasn't good enough to make it onto the Mgla albums but with repeated listens it eventually sinks in. Enemy of Man is a great album and this new one is sounding very good so far as well.

Have they played any gigs since the release of Enemy of Man? I remember reading before it was released that they would not be playing live for a while to focus on writing new material but that was 4 years ago.

Enemy of Man was a really excellent album. Too early to compare this new one with it... so as of right now Enemy of Man is the better of the two, but given some more listens and time who knows... the new one does seem to be paced quite a bit slower upon initial listening over all.

No. M. said that they're putting Kriegsmaschine's live appearances on hold to work on what later turned out to be Exercies in Futility and they reactivated Mgla's gigs a few years ago, so there was no space for KSM shows as well. With new Mgla material coming out next year and live shows starting again from March, I doubt they'll start touring with KSM again in the foreseeable future.

Brilliant band, great to see a new release from them. Ordered the re-press of altered states too, hope to see a new pressing of their first lp some time soon.

Wish KSM started playing live again, I had tickets to see them with Antaeus, Watain and Secrets of the Moon in London about a decade ago but only managed to get to the venue by the time they finished..

That's definitely NEWS! I was thinking that band is "on hold", cause i remember there was talks about new minialbum on this board, but not news, updates etc since then...

I usually dislike this type of bands, but always had weak spot for KSM. Not sure is this album better then previous one, but it wasnt dissapoinment or bad one at least... so probably i am going to buy it along with those new re-releases.

Sounds amazing.. A lot like MGLA but that's not a bad thing at all.

Damn! As others have said, the drumming on this album is worth the listen alone. I also like the structure of it. Hypnotic, building, suffocating. It's one of those albums that rewards a patient ear.

Great surprise. Loved Enemy of man; in some ways prefer Kriegsmaschine to Mgla. Either way, definitely darker, more hypnotic and as mentioned, more rhythmic than Mgla.

I'm sure it will be good, and Darkside's drumming will be a perfect accompaniment to the hypnotic, dissonant riffs.

Blindly bought it; I'll listen to it when I have it in my hands.
