Anyway, this is what happens when you get three exemplars far past their prime, and it ends up being completely insipid. This sounds totally uninspired and unnecessary.

Sorry but Blasphemer still has it in him (see latest Aura Noir album) and Mounier has recovered from the garbage The Unspoken King from ten years ago so the only musician past his prime here is Vincent.

Should have named the band Hat ...but then I realized that was already taken... but none of them wear hats. Fuck... things just are not right sometimes.

Haha! Apropos. A few Body Count songs are guilty pleasures of mine, and this is one of them.

Actually, yes, I take that back in regard to Blasphemer. He's a great guitarist, and I think the only reason I tend to overlook his merit is because his place in Mayhem and Aura Noir always seemed so secondary to the genius of the two masterminds of those bands (Euronymous and Carl-Michael Eide, respectively). I think De Mysteriis is one of the genre's pinnacles, and yet all post-Euronymous stuff feels like it should have been continued under a different band name, to me. I really need to give the latest Aura Noir album a listen, because I've been putting it off. Pretty stupid of me, since they're a favorite of mine. Been too obsessed with Virus, I guess, haha.

As for Flo, I have eternal respect for both his technical musicianship as well as his inventiveness and creativity, but the only two Cryptopsy albums that really mesmerize me are the first two. Whisper has its moments, but everything after that just doesn't grab me at all.

As for Vincent, he's like the textbook example of "washed-up" as far as death metal artists go. It frustrates me, because I think MA improved greatly after Mike Browning left, and the first three albums wouldn't be the timeless masterpieces they are without Vincent, but his decline into the sleazy industrial stuff (not that I hate that style, I'm a huge Lords of Acid fan, after all) essentially sealed the deal. Maybe if he was still a vitriolic, spiteful, Christian-loathing crypto-fascist he'd still be worth a shit, haha. Now he's just Boozin' with Beelzebub, and cashing in on his former legacy because it appears that an extreme metal supergroup is slightly more lucrative than anything else he's interested in playing.
