So I just managed to get through the second album of Proclamation, and the following thoughts are in my mind:

The song structures are so simple that I'm having a hard time telling the songs apart from each other. I can't believe this band has like 40 songs. I mean, how could they tell them apart?

The guitarist only seems to use the E and A strings (part from the "solos"), while the bass uses only the E string. Furthermore, they use like max 5 chords on the whole record.

The drumming is very sloppy, so I'm not exactly dropping on my knees due to intensity.

The question arises: What the hell is the thing with this band that I am missing? Is it supposed to be some kind of musical equivalent to horror movies or a soundtrack to war? The lyrical content reminds me of Indiana Jones Temple of Doom mixed with random phrases of sacrifice this and blood that and "sabbatical desolation and abomination vengeance" etc.

I mean, the Blasphemy worship is obvious, but at least Blasphemy had riffs ffs. Also, the Von influence is here with the undeniably cool red/black aesthetics. But whereas Von succeeds in creating a nice atmosphere with their minimalism, this is just....dull.

What do you think?

Yeah this is my advice too. Proclamation is more like a soundtrack to fucked up lifting sessions, than listening carefully to any songs per se.

I don't get Proclamation either. Just as whole Spanish/Latin metal in general. Save 13th Moon, Teitanblood (Polish drummer - sorry, couldn't resist Very Happy) and that grind band Machetazo. Probably a few others not that important.

Proclamation might be the only Ross Bay sounding band I still listen to. I don't listen to them for the songs or else, I usually go through albums for the atmosphere they carry. IMO it is true primitivism, cave man music carrying grotesque darkness, inner violence unleashed.

Antichrist and Proclamation are the closest bands you will get to Blasphemy. Learn to love the primitive nature of these Spaniards.
How can one not worship "Angel of Four Winds"?

Fingers crossed one day for that Proclamation boxset.

As an unrepentant prog-rocker I find the complaints about the simplicity of this band ridiculous

The exact same stuff could be said about Black Witchery and Revenge(though I don't agree about sloppy drumming), do you like those bands or no? By the sounds of it you just don't like this style which is no big deal unless you are looking for a good excuse to wear sunglasses indoors.
