Ah, right, you were the guy who said that everything they did after the Black Album was genius. At least your opinions are coherently garbage. There's nothing more frustrating than people who might say inane shit about one subject but then sound completely reasonable on others. You have to actually read and think about what they're saying. In your case, I can look at the avatar and just skip it.

No maaan, because you don't like mainstream rock era Metallica you are obviously closed minded and listen to nothing but I_LOVE_PENIS bands 24/7.

This is idiocy.
Maybe bigger, but no way are they better than Sabbath.

Not so sure. Both spawned untold number of imitators. If better=more influential, Metallica can certainly by a strong contender for the title of the most influential metal band.

Metallica released three epic albums (some will say 4 cause they count Justice for All, but not me... I don't like it) ...but three really good albums for sure, and then came the black album and everything radio and mainstream attention after ...and who knows whats on the albums after than other than more bait for that radio play pay cheque... better than Black Sabbath? ...both bands are radio fodder and have the same type of people in the bands with zero qualms about being exploited for whatever they can bank.

Life is good for these guys. ...both suck and both are gods in a way when it comes to what they have given the music realm. Always going to be a love/hate deal with these lads, always.

Itís a pretty good album, yes.

As for the Metallica versus Black Sabbath discussion, I much prefer Metallica, but thatís just a matter of personal opinion. Iím more into extreme metal than classic rock, so the choice is obvious.

No, I didn't.

Totally agree about the avatar thing, that's the reason why you should add one too.

Comparing Metallica with Black Sabbath or JP makes no sense at all. Different times, scenes, styles etc. If anything, you can compare them to Exodus, Megadeth or Anthrax. And there they win easily. The only band that could challenge them in their league was Slayer but obviously their style was different too.

100%

Metallica after this album is totally worthless 'murican junk. And this one isn't really amazing either, but it's a good album. Comparing them to titans like Sabbath, Priest and even Maiden is pointless.

How are they better exactly? Let's see:

Sabbath
1970: Paranoid and s/t
1980: Heaven or Hell

This is something no one can beat.

Priest's SSS trilogy could be compared to Metallica's first album maybe, but they are way more innovative and display just better musicianship overall. Only Cliff was better on his instrument than Ian and that's it.

Maiden has one of the most consistent discographies. That's a fact.

And what was the influence of Metallica exactly? Except if you count "oh they made 8 year old me wanna pick up a guitar". Sure, American and European thrash, even some British crust bands, all of whom by 1986 got their own stuff going, but what after that? Not any of those bands influenced by Black Album or god forbid something after is good at all.

Metallica were amazing back in the day, but they've been on a decline for 30 years.

I'm with Frozen on Metallica vs Black Sabbath, so no need to repeat his words.

Priest are good, but none of their best albums is anywhere near Metallica's first six in my book.

Never cared about Maiden. Yes, they are consistent, 40 consistently boring years are behind them.
