I doubt anyone here will dig this, but whatever. This scratches the Elliott Smith itch I feel from time to time. Honestly, she's the only artist I've personally come across that comes close to what he did in that style.

The artist is a chick who goes by the stage/band name Weyes Blood. I first stumbled upon the Cardamom Times EP just before I went to Europe to attend the last Nidrossian Black Mass. It was very fitting material for the dreary weather and for traveling alone during those two weeks. Specifically the final track, In the Beginning, got a lot of play.

Shortly thereafter I discovered the full length The Innocents which was fucking wonderful. Her most recent full length, Front Row Seat to Earth is excellent as well, and I'm excited to hear she's back recording her follow-up.

I went back and forth about posting this on a metal forum, but fuck it, here it is.

Weyes Blood is good! If you like sad Elliot Smith type shit check out Tony Molina’s newest record it’s like that but under the influence of 12 string sounding Byrds/classic psych

PS this is only semi relevant but perhaps worth posting ITT: I made a, (mostly) obscure (and old), power pop mix a few years ago that can still be downloaded here https://www.mediafire.com/file/x634ryzqa16mtlz/maddholly_mix_vol._2_-_Hooks_Galore.zip/file

Really great!

Question - are they a Christian band?

If you ahve not heard Locust Point from Lansing yet then you should. Great Rock and Roll, and also Anguish from Detroit.

They are a Christian band.
Forgot about this local band, these hills are a lot steeper than they appear here.
