San Francisco’s veterans SLOUGH FEG will release their new album, “Ape Uprising” on the 8th of May in Germany and Europe, 11th of May in UK and June 2 in USA/Canada via Cruz Del Sur Music.

The cover artwork was created by Californian artist Larry Luna and it’s shown below for the first time ever!

“Ape Uprising” consists of eight tracks and it is undoubtedly the heaviest release in the twenty-year long history of the band. The band used the usual team for recordings, Justin Phelps and Justin Weis, later mastering the album at TRAXWORK studio.

Actual SLOUGH FEG line up is:
Mike Scalzi - Vocals, Guitar
Adrian Maestas - Bass
Angelo Tringali - Guitar
Harry Cantwell – Drums

A vinyl version of “Ape Uprising” will be released by end of April by German label Iron Kodex, in a limited edition of 666 copies.

Audio files will be uploaded very soon on both myspace. com/cruzdelsurmusic and myspace/sloughfeg

Shitty bandname, ugly artwork but great music

I like both name and music, but the cover sucks to no end.

The band's name, Slough Feg, or more formally, The Lord Weird Slough Feg, is taken from the main villain in a British comic book series title Slaine which setting was in places named in Celtic Myth. Those myths, as recounted in the historical tome known as the Ta'in Bo Cuailgne (thawn bo quel'gny), provide the fodder for many of Mike's lyrical topics, although subjects such as mental evolution, moral mastery, and your basic misery and madness also tend to crop up, even when not related to mythology.

Awful artwork but Slough Feg are great. I hope this is a step up from Hardworlder which I thought was a bit lacklustre.

I think he is a figure from Celtic mythology. I have one or two graphic novels of Slaine and the character is mentioned. Dunno if they got it from the comic book or from actual Celtic myth.

Agreed. I like some of the tracks on Hardworlder, and some of the tracks on Atavism, but for my money these guys have not put out a truly great record since Traveller. Then again, Traveller destroys everything, so maybe it's an unfair comparison... Twisted Evil

They're great live, though, so even if the new one is Hardworlder Part II or worse (and boy, does that cover art suggest so!), I'll still be glad if we get another Southwestern tour out of it.

"Hardworlder" was a HUGE let down...I mean after creating the MASTERPIECE of "Traveller" and the quite good "Atavism" they have been falling down into oblivion...really, and that awful cover art won't help...I wish I can eat my words, but I am afraid it will let me down...still there might be some hope...

"Ape Uprising", great title, one can hope it is a concept album based on "Planet of the Apes" or something along those lines.

They've never stopped being great. Traveller might actually be my least favorite, it's got great songs but it's waaaaaay too clean. Their best work is the first album, especially the reissues with all the demo stuff; all amazing. I thought Hardworlder and Atavism were both amazing, more dirty rock, so I'm pretty excited for this.

I thought HARDWORLDER was killer shit that makes me think of 70s Judas Priest. It was outstanding to my ears.

This'll be great too, I'm sure. Crappy artwork though.

Just managed to get copies of Hardworlder and Ape Uprising today. I was pretty inspired after seeing them live in Austin for SXSW a few weeks back. These guys put on an amazing live show and are great 70s era heavy metal tried and true.

Indeed. Took some work, but once I got used to the more laidback drumming, and started listening to that amazing guitarwork Hardworlder quickly became a favorite. Remind me of 70's Priest meets Thin Lizzy actually.
