And why is it Aces High?
Seriously, it is such a flawless opening track I lack words to praise it enough.

Opening tracks are in a way the most important part of an album since that sort of decides your first impression of the album.

Other favorites:

Grand Belials Key - Foul Parody of the Lords Supper
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Slayer - Angel of Death
Arghoslent - Flogging the Cargo
Dismember - Override of the Overture

FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE

Although Aces High or Angel of Death could be on top also, but I think the anxiety of impending nuclear warfare on Fight Fire With Fire is the ultimate burst of energy to start an album with.

The intro and first song on "Frost" (Enslaved) are both really good.

That, and Kirk's solo in that one is problably his/their best ever!

It's very good but really he does no bad lead/solo on Rride the Lightning.

Good choice. That reverse tracked guitar intro is gold.

As an aside, i always wondered whether Lars was busy scratching his nuts or something after said intro when he comes in with just the snare drum.

Those are some of the few from the top of my head, tracks that by hearing them, you feel being sucked inside the atmosphere of the record they belong to:

Iron Maiden - Caught Somewhere In Time
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Slayer - Angel Of Death
Possessed - The Exorcist
Sodom - Agent Orange
Morbid Angel - Immortal Rites
