For those unfamiliar with 1.0 internet, let me introduce the first Pagan Assault website published online in 2001:
http://web.archive.org/web/20010407020237/http://paganassault.fr.st/

Unfortunately, all images files disappeared, but the core of the website is functional.

Though we only had released our first (unperfect) demo tape, we got a lot of feedback through this website. Then someone denounced the website to an antiracist association which reported the introduction disclaimer to French justice. The website was censored, I got questioned by French police judiciaire and a female judge sentenced me to... write an essay about tolerance (true story).

This incident prematurely ended our career as dissident rockstars. Other members left, I remained alone and decided to concentrate on the music rather than promotion. I've been concentrating on the creative process ever since.

It's funny to look back at this website 17 years after. What a big difference with those soulless bandpages on Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, Instagram and co. At that time, publishing a website was actually a work in itself (I hope it still is, to a certain extent).

Artists, please be creative. Be yourself. Go the hard way. Better work hard to get a simple result than get a flashy result with ready-made formula. Strive to create! Effort is rewarding.

Thanks for your attention.

Q: Do you want to know what I did with all the music and projects I made from 1997-2010?

A: I deleted them. Seriously.

Never surrender. One day all the others will realize their pre-formulated efforts were a betrayal to true art ...and who shall be there to give the masses what they actually required all along? You will.

I also vow to the return of dial up internet access! If its not worth waiting to load then its not worth it at all!

Go the hard way. Disable your internet. Only communicate via letters, zines and tapetrading.

Are you aware that there are still a lot of places where internet connection is unstable to say the least?

could you post the essay you wrote on tolerance?
I'm very eager to weigh the magnitude of that 2001 Pagan Assault artistic integrity throughout its first historical showdown with The Man, a female judge, no less, out of all possible abominable genders and functions

No. There are internet cafes everywhere, except for some rural african places.

Areas of the rural UK suffer from very poor net connectivity, my area included. Uploading lossless music files to platforms such as Bandcamp can take entire days and nights. That said, I do not miss the original dial up connection of yesteryear.

You're talking about transferring the actual 'product' in that case. It starts with staying in contact with people, setting up trades or buying stuff and sending money through PayPal. It used to be letters and cash money in envelopes. The internet made that a lot easier.
