Heh. I think the last minute or so of that song is the highlight of the album.

It's a great part indeed but the song isn't as good as a whole as the others.

This record is catchy as hell. It's not suffocating as Salvation and the drums are a bit too monotonous as stated before but as a whole I can't stop listening to it.

I'll get it on CD as a part of my next month's record purchases.

I listened to a couple of sample tracks and figured it was worth picking up. It could be a long haul. It took forever for me to get into Maranatha but when it clicked, it clicked hard. I didn't even find Salvation particularly great at first but now I certainly agree with the praise it has gotten over the years. For whatever reason I have to exercise patience with this band.

It's been a similar experience for me with this band. I bought Salvation 12 years ago based on a review and I just didn't like it - in fact I wrote the band off entirely.

Years later listened to Maranatha out of curiosity and it took a while, but I really got hooked. Before you know it I was listening to Devilry too.

I've given Hekatomb quite a few spins and I can't say whether this is Arioch's best work just yet but it really does stand on it's own. The only lame song is "Naught But Death."

As for Salvation, I still think it's crap.

How anyone can deny tracks like Breathing Wounds or Across The Qliphoth is beyond me.

Or Holy Poison. One of the most intense black metal songs of all time.

Or "In Manus Tuas". It has one of the best moments in black metal by minute 2:30.

Just hearing the "Tibi soli peccavi" part makes me want to off someone.

I was skeptical at first listen, but upon some more detailed listening I have to admit it's very good. Many highlights, and even the ones that stuck out as meh at first are growing on me. Glad I didn't doubt long enough for it to be totally gone from distros!

As for their others, Maranatha never clicked like Salvation did. Salvation is a beast though!

The more I listen and learn the songs the more I look forward to various moments in this album. Often I'll want to fall to my knees due to intensity or at least wish I had hair to properly headbang along.

In a parallel universe, maybe...

Having listened through thrice without distraction, I personally think it is very good. I'll buy a copy. However, the album cover leaves a lot to be desired. Perhaps it should have reflected some of the chaos and eccentricity within.

Album is a grower indeed. I have to agree about the cover, any image from the booklet, would have made a far better cover artwork.

I'd rather they just left it alone, honestly.

Hope so Triumphator is average at best and I don't think they would even be know by many had Arioch not been involved. The best thing they ever did was the Bin Laden US tour shirt.
