Runespell - Order of Vengeance
Arkhtinn - 最初の災害
Inferno Requiem - Primitive Outburst
Candelabrum - Portals
Bašmu - Infernal Circles of the Sabbat
The Secret - Lux Tenebris
Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want

Some other solid releases:
Mûsspellzheimr - Kolbítr
Ritual Death - Ritual Death 10"
Old Tower - Stellary Wisdom
Voidsphere - To Await | To Expect
Sanguine Relic - The Essence Of Eternity's Despair
Immatura Morte - The Schizophrenic Damnation
Tragedy - Fury

Looking forward to the new Arkhtinn and the new Selvans but i can already say for myself that 2017 was a better year, specifically with Lluvia releasing his final masterpiece Enigma (favorite album, probably of all time) and then new Evilfeast, Inferno Requiem and Sortilegia really did it for me.

With that I can agree. But when it comes to 'unrelenting black/death beasts' Outre is one of the last things that spring to mind.

Whoa, I didn't know Outre had new stuff out. Last I heard was Ghost Chants, but I'd have to disagree that Outre isn't an unrelenting beast--Ghost Chants was pure badassery, malicious and bloodthirsty dissonant black metal with lurid light-shunning melodies.

I never would have thought, but this is indeed the case.

Of course because it's a black metal album.

It definitely offers the sound production the new Mare album should have had. Not complaining about the Mare album though. It is what it is and that is still a very deep and sinister record. Just different than expected.

Could do with hearing more from this year really. Not too much has stood out a great deal besides:

Malthusian - Across Deaths
Grave Upheaval - Untitled II
Blasphamogoatochrist
Marduk - Viktoria (Marduk are always Marduk, but they benefit from returning to ~30 minute albums)
Archgoat - Luciferion Crown
Oksennus

Sleep and Conan aren't outstanding but fill my occasional stoner doom requirements. Not metal but new Draugurinn is amazing as ever.

Probably forgetting some stuff that I forgot came out this year. Need to find more war meta from this year, especially war-noise ala Tetragrammacide and Nyog

I love the Subduer and Aparthiva Raktadhara ones, and Jyotisavedanga is cool but preferred the demo. I'll have to give the others a listen when I get in, thanks.

This year has definitely come with a handful of very good releases, more than I initially expected honestly. The ones that come to my mind at this very moment are the following:

Runespell - Order Of Vengeance
The best album Nightwolf has created under the Runespell moniker yet. While I found Unhallowed Blood Oath to be an average release in the sense it didn't impress me while not being necessarily bad, I think Order Of Vengeance is a very well crafted mix of Black Metal with a Viking Metal undertone, definitely taking inspiration from Bathory's Hammerheart if not from Twilight Of The Gods too. The only thing that could have been handled in a better way is the drums, which get buried under the long reverb of the vocals and that could have used to more "punch".

Lamentation - Grabens Symphonie
I don't think there's much to say about Lamentation. Those who are into 90s Dungeon Synth will know about them for sure, and while I don't consider them the best project from that era due to the overly "plastic" sound and the dull production, they are definitely something worth taking a listen to regardless. What Lamentation truly knew how to nail down when they were around are the compositions, which truly capture the darker aura Dungeon Synth is known for thanks to projects such as Mortiis and way more recent phenomenon Old Tower. It's very nice someone thought all their work should have been compiled on double CD along with the Whispers From Carmillas Tomb promo track, which got only released on the Prometheus Unleashed tape under the moniker Nachtkaiser.

Farsot / ColdWorld ‎– Toteninsel
I deem this split one of the most underrated splits of this year, with both bands creating some of the most hypnotic music I've heard yet. The Farsot side is very enjoyable slow-paced Black Metal in one of its purest forms, mixed with acoustic interludes, ambient keyboards, and drums that span from your classic primitive blast beat to pretty much jazz-ish sounding patterns. While the opening track, titled Erde I, makes a perfect introduction to this release, the second track, titled Erde II, is definitely the better one, due to the majestic acoustic guitars which really remind me of Kveldssanger era Ulver. The ColdWorld side is very impressive as well, a perfect mix of slow Black Metal and Doom Metal with depressive elements here and there. Very much recommended.

These are the 3 I think got me the most. Other honorable mentions are:

A Forest of Stars - Grave Mounds And Grave Mistakes
Craft – White Noise And Black Metal
Immortal - Northern Chaos Gods
Northwind Wolves ‎– Dark... Cold... Grim...
Slidhr – The Futile Fires Of Man
