hehe, wasn't there a scan of that advert posted here? few months ago.

Yeah, there was. I saved it. Someone wrote that it was from the first issue of Kerrang! in June 1983, just a few days before Hellhammer released their first demo.

Gold.

And regarding the fake Nifelheim statement, I detected bullshit from the start.

I kind of liked Monotheist. The riffs sucked and the vocals blew, but the atmosphere was strong and there was just something about the album that made me like it, even though it's not something I'd listen to regularly. Certainly one of the better "comeback" albums out there. At least they tried to achieve something unique instead of just releasing another Vanity/Nemesis.

Doesn't sound like you liked it at all! I thought it was for the most part a very good album! Some bits weren't very good, but I'd say 70% of it was totally killer, especially the doomy track at the end! Even better live!

Well, the individual songs weren't that good, but as a whole the album just worked. "Domain of Decay", "Ain Elohim" and "Triptych" were all really good, though.

Synagoga Satanae = most satanic thing CF ever wrote. That track is just a monster.

The incorporation of Latin and German into the lyrics was also fucking excellent.

"Into The Pandemonium" was C.F. swan song for me!!! Still remember this conversation with some friends when we got copies of this LP back then!! Still remember the frustration when we first listened "Mexican Radio". Only 3 words: What The Fuck???

i can't get into celtic frost or hellhammer, though i've tried. who knows, it might click one day. i found a used copy of into the pandemonium, spun it once, and promptly returned it.

I don't blame you, that album is horrible. Try Emperor's Return, Morbid Tales, or To Mega Therion.

I liked it alot, I thought I was alone out there. There was a total of 4 songs I didn't listen to (when I owned it) and the rest were pretty much solid.

It took me awhile to appreciate it, as I admit I am 95% conservative metalhead asshole. But once I gave it an open mind, I appreciated it for what it is, which is DIFFERENT but still good and carries a real and strong atmosphere (for the most part).

It really would make no sense for Celtic Frost to rewrite Morbid Tales 1000 times.

I'm pretty sure Nifelheim and Tom Warrior are in fact friends to each other.

If they did write it, it could be that they are just mad he hides his baldness with silly little hats instead of proudly showing it off.

Anyway, I tent to agree with whoever wrote (somewhat). The guy does seem to be a pretentious artfag and curmudgeon with an massive ego.

However, I like Monotheist. It's the best record they could of put out. It would of been lame if they tried to repeat themselves and make another "Morbid Tales" or "To Mega Therion". It doesn't sound like any of their other records, which makes it very much a real Celtic Frost record. Because none of them resembled each other much. It's not perfect, but it is a pretty dark record and has more artistic integrity than most of the shit in the "underground".
