It happens.
...At least you didn't get stopped by a cop only to inquire whether they were real or not. What a retard.

Pffftt!
Happened to me once, but the pig was joking. .

I got stopped by some cops one night because of mine. I ended up getting taken back to the cop station and "interigated". Their excuse was that i was inciting fear into the community and they eventually confiscated them. After about 3 months they gave them back to me though.

The best places over my way to get them ive found are at army disposal joints etc... Buying them from overseas can be expensive with postage and depending on which country you live in, you might need to get permission to bring them into the country.

Ordering them overseas is an expensive move because they're fukin heavy to ship!
I got mines on Ebay, ages ago. Seller was somewhere in Chicago I think.

Interrogated? Whoa.
Now that's something. You are in Australia, however.
Wonder if they would do that here...

I've walked by many police with my ammo belt as a kid and they didn't even look twice, they are pretty familiar with the punk rockers around here so they already know the deal.

Inciting fear in the community? HAHAHAHA.

Not exactly true, if importing them from overseas its likely they will get caught in customs and seized, unless they are registered or some shit but maybe even then. Wearing them to gigs/in the street is no real problem. We had them as apart of luggage when flying across the state to play gigs and it was no issue.
Whats worse is that (Ive heard) there are still some venues in Queensland that wont let people in if they are wearing get a grips / steel caps.
Not a problem in Melb though

True. I had to keep C. Masochist's bullet belt because he wasn't able to take it with him on the plane on his way back to Australia after their U.S. tour.

I have a bullet belt that a friend of mine took for me from the army, but there's not much I can do with it, since the bullets are real and if I walk with them in the Israeli streets - I will either get arrested by the cops or get shot by them, since people will think TERRORIST and not METALHEAD when they see me walking with a bullet belt...

Hint: don't drive a car with a bullet belt.

Con - Distros selling them for upwards of $60 all polished and pretty, when you can get them at surplus stores and on eBay for less than half that.

Only if you try to bring them into the country from external sources. You can take them around Australia by plane wiht no problem... you only need to check them rather than taking them onboard.

This was only a problem post 9-11 too. I brought a couple back from New Zealand in 2000. The customs there were somewhat bewildered by them ha ha.

OK, here's one... bullet belts and cops is one thing - anyone had any problems with anti-christian messages and/or illustrations and cops?

I have a Goat Semen back patch on my vest which has Jesus being fucked in the ass by a goat, blood coming out of his ass and chained to a wall (you've probably seen it right?)

Compared to the infamous case here in the UK of the kid being arrested and prosecuted for "inciting religious hatred" for wearing a COF Jesus Is a Cunt shirt my Goat Semen graphic is potentially worse.

I caught a copper eying it up once and made myself scarce quick just in case. Anyone else?

Ha ha! That is weird? From DAP?

I would love to have the argument about inciting religious hatred with a policeman or judge (or anyone) but my real concern is having my vest confiscated with all the other patches on it. I must have like 100's worth on there and some are irreplaceable. Losing it would SUCK.

Heh, no, I doubt the belt would be able to get into Canada. I did a bunch of researching prior to buying one, I guess it's pretty hard to get one here through the mail. Some guy from the next city over I found on a forum makes them, I should have mine by Tuesday Very Happy
