DIE KRUEZEN was great. Double Negative is also rad. Might be a bit too punk for most people on this board though.

I love Double Negative, especially that super raw 7" they did after the LP. Looking forward to the new album. Legit old dogs. Vocalist used to be in Subculture, who did a great LP in the mid 80s. The drummer was also in a bunch of bands in the 80s, and is a well known punk artist (he drew album covers for 7 Seconds among others).

COC came through town in 1987 but didn't like the venue and refused to play. Fortunately someone shamed them enough to take the stage after Blast! (the openers). Unfortunately some punker-than-thou grrl was throwing shit and shouting "rock stars" at them, so they stopped after one song, returned the shouts and left. Can't say I blamed them, it was a pretty shitty venue.

Saw Die Kreuzen twice in 1988 and they ripped each time. Amazing musicianship.

Voivod owes royalty payments to Die Kreuzen. Rorschach owes royalty payments to Voivod and Die Kreuzen

I used to think that, too. Then after talking to DK in 1988, it seemed to be more a mutual admiration society between the bands than a 'chicken or egg' argument.

Double Negative is one of the few current 80s style HC bands I dig. Most are just too unoriginal. Career Suicide and Direct Control rule too. I need the new Career Suicide EP!

i don't think so. they found about each other once they had already reached their own "maturity."

yeah. I know Keith was a huge fan, and I bumped into Nick @ the Pizza place a few years ago and he said he had busted out his old Voivod and Kreator records.

pollution will venture down to Raleigh to play w/ Double Neg in the Spring, schedules permitting. Epic and Kevin were also in the DC style band, "Days of. . ." - I mean they were really DC style. down to the name and eveyrthing, even though they hated the actual DC scene. I've always dug Walsby's cartoons. NARDCORE comp for life.

Sean from pollution is from Raleigh, and he grew up with all those dudes, including the COC dudes. check the lyric sheet. it says "thanks to that little guy, Sean."

They must have been eating the same Poutine that caused them to write such demended riffs.
