Hello, bums

I plan to buy some albums which I miss (or have on MC) on wax. Any opinions or "avoid" on these LP re-presses? I care mainly about the sound quality compared to the original presses. Some might sound even better, I dont know...

Mortem - Demon Tales (on Merciless records)
Devastation - Idolatry (on Repulsive Echo)
Disgrace - Grey Misery (on Svart)
Immolation ‎- Dawn Of Possession (Metal Mind or Listenable)
Blood Feast ‎- Kill For Pleasure (High Roller)
Slaughter - Strappado (War on Music or High Roller)
Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare (Wax Maniax)

Thanks in advance.

I don't have "Grey Misery" LP but I do have the Disgrace demo comp and "Vol. 2" LPs by Svart, and I think it's safe to say if it's Svart, it sounds killer.

Great thread. Every now and then I try to open a new one to ask about vinyl reissues and their audio sources. Hope there's one to rule them all.

I own Strappado on High Roller and I'd say it sounds really good - but I don't own the original to compare. Svart usually does a good job, so I'd say go ahead with Disgrace's. My version of Axegrinder's LP sounds massive.

Weeks ago I ordered Mortem's LP as well, so I'll be bummed if the quality is inferior. Don't know about their work ethos, but I've always liked most of Merciless Recs roster, so I guess its run by devotees and not instawankers. Smile

Was Maniax in general has made good quality represses, and the Vio-Lence isn't an exception.

This is a great repress, both in looks and sounds.

About the High Roller versions:

buy the 2014 2LP edition with the original mix + one unedited rough mix. and avoid the previous 2010 and 2012 single Lp editions with the Alex Krull remaster.

can anyone comment on Morpheus Descends - The Horror of the Truth LP by The Crypt? I know it seems ridiculous to question The Crypt but on the CD version (From Blackened Crypts comp), the material from The Horror of the Truth sounds... bad. Compared to the original CD, it sounds like a super rough mix. It's pretty demo-like and has none of the warmth I know the EP for. Was just wondering if anyone had any comment, or could share a LP rip possibly.

Great idea! I've pondered about this as well. I'd like to know how the different Thergothon-Streams ... pressings differ in terms of sound? Been meaning to snag a copy of this from Peaceville.

Curious if the last batch of 180g MoV/Roadrunner reissues of the Carnivore albums are worth picking up.

I remember a user here commenting that they had the remaster versions of the tracks. Sound-wise they're probably fine but just about anyone I've heard seem to prefer the original versions.

Devastation - Idolatry (on Repulsive Echo)

Buy with confidence. Down to the very last copies of the splatter version (about half a dozen left), not many black vinyl copies available either.

The Listenable "Dawn of Possession" repress is good.

I have the Seventh Rule pressing and I remember is sounding very similar to the CD pressing I have from 2000. It looks way better, though. The artwork was printed from the original negatives and the jacket is probably the thickest that I own. I'd love to know if the sound and look of the Peaceville pressing is much different. All of the other vinyl I have from them sounds great.

I'd also like to know how Peaceville's pressing of Dance of December Souls compares to the one from Svart.
