Visiting next month and I would really like to see more then rose gardens and waterfalls.

What is there to do and where is the good food at?

VooDoo Donuts is a must. Hair of the Dog brewery is great. Portland is also known for it's wide array of food trucks. I don't live there, just been a few times.

Also Portland is a great place to play "Hipster or Hobo."

Strip clubs and bridges. While you are there find Patch for me. Haven't talked to that guy in years. What? You don't know Patches? Don't worry you'll know him when you see him.

I have a friend who lives there and he absolutely can't stand it. He said he has never lived in a place with more "liberal art wankers". Those were his words. He also mentioned that unless you have a beard, you are an outcast.

was on tour and we ended up stopping there twice, the highlight was eating at Pine State Biscuits for the fried chicken biscuit sandwich. that and i guess drink some Reinier. weird fucking place, not into how small town it feels tbh.

Headsplit Records is based out of Portland and hosts some pretty good extreme metal shows, maybe there will be one when you are there. Here's their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/headsplitrecords/.

2nd Ave Records and Devout Records both have some good metal available, check them out.

Famine Fest is probably the biggest underground metal fest in the PNW, they also host shows from time to time. Here's their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/faminefestnw/

bullshit and cliches exist everywhere, pdx is still one of the best quality of life vs. cost of living of any "major" coastal city in the U.S.

but you're going to have to be more specific about what you're looking for because this town is practically run by the service industry. as already mentioned even strip clubs have decent food here.

5 years ago this would be true. Now...no fucking way. You're lucky if you can find a studio apartment for a 1k a month.

I have been to Portland several times and was able to snatch some good vinyls here:

The 2nd avenue shop mentioned above was also cool.

You might want to check this site to find out about gigs:

Even with rising costs, PDX might still be the best value... Or maybe somewhere in the south east.

I ate at a breakfast sandwich food truck called "Fried Egg I'm in Love" Rolling Eyes

it was expensive and underwhelming. we kept joking about how Portland's economy is just based on stoner food
