bigger pressings = even lower price

really, there is no difference in standard basic gatefold or a normal jacket. at least at our pressing plant(s).

I can understand if there is an embossed metallic foil used or something like that, this can make a gatefold trice as much as a normal jacket.

but in the end, if I know I am releasing a double-lp I automatically count in a gatefold cover-jacket.

The difference lies in the shipping prices, hence the reason why quite a few of older '80ies releases were double albums but in standard sleeves. When you move 10000+ units per title there is a difference, especially if you don't license the record country to country.

Counterblast "Impassivity"
The Funeral Orchestra "Feeding the Abyss"
WarHorse "As Heaven Turns to Ash"

Nothing more to say from my side than CR99 already did.

I saw that one too, but a few months ago the gatefold version sold for 500+ Euros, so the 331 were quite "cheap", hehe... Iīd love to own it, but thatīs just too much money either way....

The one thing I dislike is the very thin spined and rather thin sleeves of say for example, the last few Drudkh albums.
The spine is barely large enough to read the bands name off when sitting stacked in the shelf admidst other albums.

Overkill and massive is that Hooded Menace album. That is an example of a sleeve that will long outlast the vinyl itself Laughing A package like this just makes the inferior sleeves even more noticeable.

Gatefolds for a single vinyl is fine, nothing to complain about there. Stuffing two vinyls into a single sleeve is workable, it just sucks in compison to an actual gatefold with two pockets. Another example of how some releases make others look poorly done.

No complaints on the single LP/Gatefold sleeve; it just seems weird. Especially the empty pocket of the Emperor album with no insert or anything.

Yeah, and it hurts so much to have those visions of several occasions where I had it in my hands already on metal markets and thought "80 EUR ? no way" Laughing or when a friend of mine offered it to me when he sold his collection and I just took other random shit which isnīt even worth 10 EUR anymore nowadays, ha ha.

i've got a triple lp in one sleeve and a quadruple lp in a normal gatefold, i don't mind it as long as it's done right, the sleeve needs to be wide!

I usually store my records outside of the jacket anyways (but in the plastic sleeve) so this has never bothered me!

When driving Pontiac Sunfire, a Ford Mustang looks better. When in the Mustang a Dodge Viper looks better... when walking that Pontiac Sunfire wasn't really that bad. Cool

I don't mind really if they put 6 albums all in a sleeve, what's nice is having a sleeve durable enough to handle it. Guess thats the bottom line. Everything else is just extra and flashy. Like the car analogy. Wink
