How many of you wear them at shows?
I saw Boris and the Melvins a few months ago
and wore a set that knocked out 31 db's
My friend I went with, was too bad ass and refused.
He had the ringing thing going on for four days.
My ears were fine right after the gig, no ringing whatsoever.
I see a more people wearing them these days.
Of course the I-pods are going to bring in shit loads of
work for audiologists in the years to come.

I have to wear them at shows.
I have tinitus, and if i expose my ears for really loud and/or sharp noises, it's bound to get worse.

I carry them always. I wear them at shows, band practice, sometimes on the train, etc. Very useful little things!

I don't wear earplugs, but use tissue instead. That doesn't attenuate too much. I also use this during long distance car drives when listening to music at the same time.

Pete from the who had a terrible case of this, but it was because of years and years of hiwatt amps right in his face. The guy I was telling you about still refuses to wear them, at least you may have stopped it from progressing.
I guess it depends on high end vs low end freq.
I have seen Jucifer 7 or 8 times ( loudest fucking band I have ever heard)and never wear earplugs or experience ringing.
Their music is so bottom end heavy I take a shit after every gig, but again they aside from cymbals there isn't much higher end stuff going on there

Tissue is actually pretty good. I have used it when I forgot the earplugs
and have never had that "oh shit I just wasted my hearing on a fucking band" feeling while trying to sleep after the show.

I usually don't use earplugs unless the volume is painful, then I just use wadded up toilet paper since I don't own any nice earplugs. I really should get them though, I'm sure that my ears are not what they used to be after years of going to and playing gigs...

I haven't done so until now, but I am going to have to. Went to a gig recently and was only able to catch 2 bands because my ears were ringing.

It's gotten to the stage that I cannot listen to albums at home because of it, which is not a good thing. If I want to listen to music I have to wear headphones that cover the ears, but don't go right into them like those that go with iPODs. Mad

I would wear them.
Only one show did I ever really need them and that was for Motorhead. My ears had ringing for several days cause I did not bring any.

Most shows it seems lately are quiet enough to not need them personally around here locally. However I get an audiogram testing every year (from work) and I see my hearing has diminshed slightly every single year. Mostly I blame the motorcycle since the wind rushing by for several hours is probably having more effect than any concert (other than that Motorhead one)

I used to wear them at concerts when I was younger, but these days
I never use them. I feel some of the intensity/brutality of the music gets lost in
the plugs unfortunately.
My ears was almost fucking destroyed when I saw Motrhead though, they
played FUCKING loud! The solos was like laser-sharp razors.
I'm almost convinced I cought a minor tinitus from that show, ugh....

I wish I'd worn earplugs when I saw Iron Maiden on the "Somewhere In Time" tour. My ears were ringing for almost a week after! Laughing
