So today I had a few beers listening to Eyehategod for the first time and got hooked right away. This is some really ugly and decadent shit, and I'm loving it. Was also recomended to check out the japanese Corrupted (who oddly enough sing in spanish). Anybody into this stuff who can recomend more sick bands like these?

Desolate Void is awesome. Nick from CAH records is the bass player. Check them out. This guy's label and distro are going under at the end of the month unless sales pick up fast. It's a shame, I got a really good unholy grave 7" collection from him for a decent price.

Samothrace
Moss
Uearthly Trance, everything but the one relapse put out

A lot of people like to pick on this band but...
Jucifer is a band that has material that is very different on studio albums, but when they do them live it is pure sludge. The loudest show I have ever seen. The kind of band that blurs your vision if you are too close.
After every show I take a big shit that night, because the bowels have been moved about.

You've already found EYEHATEGOD, the undisputed masters of this genre. Just about anything else you find will be sub-standard in comparison. However, you should definitely check out NOOTHGRUSH. They have a split LP with CORRUPTED that I am going to spin right now in honor of this thread (after SARCASM finishes).

Haha, that could have been from me. I love you. Wink Make sure to check out Altar of Earth then. It's a new crushing outfit with former Sea grannies. KILLER demo!

WarHorse and Sourvein are among my faves when it comes to sleazy Death-ridden Doom, but I think it's a bit misleading to mention 'em here as recommendation for Sludge à la EHG.

Moss? You got to be kidding. Never got the fuss about this band anyway. Mediocre albums that get praise like being influental classics already. Dead boring to me. Stuff like Moss gets all the attention while a wrecking ball like Aldebaran's debut full-length is somehow ignored. Can't understand that.

Sludge-wise I side with IXTAB and Mutilashawn and a four menu. Noothgrush as high proof starter. EHG and Grief as heavy meaty main course. Corrupted as light dessert. Bon appétit.

How could I forget to mention THOU. Rolling Eyes

Rightly caused a great stir with "Tyrant" in the scene. Killer combination of filthy Sludge and atmospheric sometimes Neurosis'esque parts.

When I was younger I was really heavily into sludge, but as time went on I got less and less interested, but recently my interest has been rekindled! Eyehategod are one of those bands though that I just couldn't get back into, I'm more into stuff without the stoner riffing, with the exception of the first Iron Monkey. Wreck of the Hesperus, Grief, Burning Witch/Thor's Hammer, Graves at Sea are all killer!
