In a similar vein of the martial music thread...
Does any one actually enjoy noise?

I think the concept is kind of retarded, but I'm Listening to some John Wiese stuff (Man is the Bastard/BAstard Noise) and it's actually pretty interesting.

I'm more into PE myself. I've heard a lot of noise bands and not one has grabbed my attention.

It's a hit or miss thing to me. Sometimes random Electronica like Cluster or those Throbbing Gristle tapes work fine to me
Retarded shit "black" noise
Enbilulugugal is boring crap
on the other hand Bakbakwalanooksiwae works
Some of Havohej as well
etc.

I don't know anything about noise, but I saw mes Sanglantes (http://www.myspace.com/amessanglantes) in Montreal with really cool visual effects and I thought it was a cool concept. It really made me feel fucking terrible, which is probably the point of it all. I couldn't stay the whole time though, it was getting to me too much haha

Merzbow's Venereaology is a a good introduction.
Most of his other stuff is hit or miss.
There was a good compilation on Relapse years ago called the
Japanese/American noise treaty.
I used to be a fan of this genre, but narrowed the collection down to about 5 essentials. Sold the rest on ebay for about 300.00 and bought a lot of stuff from NWN and Moribund.

very much in the past, now only a few exceptions. But randomly I enjoy noise a lot! I looooooooove Throbbing Gristle & have their complete discography minus the tapes in original format (got the cd boxsets re-issues) Twisted Evil the noise/experimental era of Psychic TV (again complete discography) and I also like Aube, Gerogerigegege, Hijokaidan, M.B. as well as older pioneer stuff from 1950-1970. I fucking say hell yeah for all this black metal stuff with much noise/ambient elements (more noise than ambient is better though). I used to listen to John Wiese and related projects a lot but not now. For a reason unknown I hate Merzbow.

Throbbing Gristle is pure (old school) industrial to my ears, but then again I'm no expert.

If you want a real mindfucking experience, listen to Genocide Organ - Remember live album.
