Well NWN might be moving foreward like a mean-spirited virus Twisted Evil , and the money rolling in might be a lot bigger, but if you look at the cost of doing some of the releases Yosuke has put together I bet each and everyone 100$ lost paypal claim stings.

Any modifications to the system he`s using now are bound to take a lot more time. Banning some well known trouble regions might help a bit, but Paypal as it is now will be a bigger problems for sellers a year from now as people take advantage.

Using paypal he can get a lotta new records going in bulk at the same time as you have to pay at once I imagine. It pretty much goes without saying that packing one shippment each day takes more of yr time then doing a big nasty stack at once. Both with the actual packing and not least the shipping part.

I am with Legion on this, I don't see how say a couple of mail orders for every 100 orders via paypal would be such a big deal when it comes to efficiency, since afterall, majority will still come through via paypal. Accepting hidden cash or money order means that you know you ain't gonna get fucked over when you have hard cash in hand as you rip open that envelope. But that's YK's decision, just trying to help out that's all.

Cash in the mail would also cause trouble: tons of e-mails "did my money arrive?" "when will you send my stuff" etc. etc. and what about cash which got lost in the mail? people will start to bitch around that YK took their money
and "his work is an excrement" then Smile
And what about the fast selling stuff? Mystifier Die Hard for example, before the first letter from "...." arrive, certain releases are sold out, this result in more troubles (send cash back, asking for alternative stuff to send out etc.), so in the end Yosuke is right when he said this is far too time consuming for an one man operation.

I sadly predict this to be a much bigger problem come 2009. Especially for sellers on egay, wich luckily is not a problem for me.

Would this be a way of getting around the problem of paypal always siding with the buyer?: If someone opens a paypal dispute then wait until they "elevate" it to a paypal claim and then send the money back. Don't do it as a refund, send it a seperate paypal payment and then ask the buyer to close the dispute. Post the paypal transaction number in the paypal dspute if necessary. Then claim the payment back after a month.

Worst case scenario is that you won't get that payment back but you'd have lost it anyway through the initial paypal claim. You may get banned from paypal but you can make another account and then don't do this again if it happens.

This seems worth trying. I know it sounds a bit unfair but it at least levels the playing field between buyers and sellers.

EDIT: typo. ignore quote below.

Sounds interesting...yeah with the crisis and all, this might work as a defense system with rip-offs...

- seriously, this "diehard" bullshit doesnt do anything for metal in general [ except make people think theyre more special than others because they were able to order something first ] & it certainly doesnt help the lot of "metalheads" get girlfriends. i seriously doubt that ANY "diehard" release has gotten anyone laid or even a kiss from a girl -

Fuckin stop yer whining and buy a regular version. There are usually 1000 (regular/die-hards combined) and one and sometimes both of those versions is available for months.
