Flawless 10/10 record.

A band that has was heavily into Summoning-ish synth work was Valar from Finland, a solo project of Narqath from Azaghal. Highly recommend if one's looking for that particular LOTR worship synth music from the 90s, less recommended for those who expect a full-fledged summoning copycat project.

Yeah, this is ridiculously good and I'm not even into Summoning! The cosmos just aligned with this one and it grabbed me.

I never bothered checking out Caladon Brood because I figured I didn't really need a Summoning clone when I have more than enough actual Summoning to listen to. Judging by what people are saying above perhaps that was a mistake?

No one has mentioned Maléfice yet, this band just popped up on my radar recently and is quite good.

I had this exact same viewpoint forever, but I finally listened to CB and it is great, the arrangements and clean vocals are really well done. Honestly the only thing I can do without is the actual Summoning covers.. tough to do those tracks justice.

I also picked up the recent Maléfice LP on your recommendation, and I've been enjoying it a lot.

Caladan Brood is amazing, some of my favorite gaming music
Some of those images that are used on YouTube for the tracks are really entrancing as well. If they never make another album then at least they crafted one dose of perfection.

Yeah I would just dig in man. In another thread on this forum i described why I even prefer CB to many of the Summoning records but that doesn’t even matter. It’s just a record where you can tell no part or transition or lead or vocal was taken lightly. They had a vision and nailed it. Even the instrumental synth parts are leagues beyond the entire Dungeon Synth genre. Guys actually have a legit sense of melody. Along with Nokturnal Mortum’s Voice of Steel, it’s simply the best music I’ve ever had accompany me on hikes/camps in Alaska, Canada etc. just pure triumphant moods across the board. Truly heart swelling shit. Sorry for the rant but it’s easily one of my favorite metal records all time.

Was this mentioned yet? Fan-made whole-album-cover with different bands all totally unknown to me. Maybe some are worth checking out. Some of the covers certainly are.

Caladan Brood record is flawless !!!

One the rare case of the student getting really close to the teacher.
Some would even say "surpassing" the teacher.

Caladan Brood far surpassed Summoning with great songwriting, actually decent production, performance and listenable riffs.

I would consider buying the album, and have a few times, but I'm always stopped dead in my tracks once the clean vocals show up. With the clear American accent, it's a pretty distinctive dudebro-choir they got going on.

I tried to get into Summoning a handful of times and it never works, but this really sounds good, and Ough was right, not a minute wasted in trying to capture a certain sound with a goal in mind. Summoning fans will murder me but this just caught my ears much faster. I wonder if the guy from Gallowbraid is in this because it comes from the same city?

Nothing beats Summoning in this genre, but the "The Lost Dimension" album by Druadan Forest recently got released on LP. Very good material for those into this style.

^That sounds pretty cool. Maybe if someone mentions on this board it's the Vargrav guy in the GGIN thread it'll be gone in an hour.
