I couldn't quite get into the Eldamar album either. Don't think it's bad or anything just didn't grab my attention much.

I like to think they are chilling because they don't have the material to stand up to their first album, instead of them lacking the time/money/whatever to record. I just had another spin and as good as Summoning's best is, Caladan Brood simply outdoes it. If they feel they can't catch lightning in a bottle twice, they shouldn't put out mediocre crap on autopilot like so many bands do.

Agreed, I keep seeing people say this and have yet to hear an explanation of why they think this.

Even Summoning's best albums are inconsistent... the highs are superb but there are areas that drag. CB is on-point 100% of the time and I never get bored of a single second.

Me too. The synth is cheesy and the female vocals are annoying, but there are some potential in some of the songs.

summoning is great on it's own
take a listen to "let mortal heroes sing your fame" .... it's epic on it's own way. summoning has a different flair and atmosphere.

Considering Eldamar is a 19 year old kid, I'm definitely curious to hear what he comes up with next. Not nearly on the same level of Summoning or Caladan Brood but great to hear new bands playing that brand of medieval epic black metal

In an interview after their debut came out, Caladan Brood were talking about having 30 minutes of new material and possibly putting out an EP. Not a peep since.

There will be a split-album out through Northern Silence Productions this year, Caladan Brood/Emyn Muil-Split CD/LP. Those 30 minutes they were talking about are probably on that split.

Excellent! Was this officially announced? The interview I mentioned was from 2013.

News 2016

Next NSP releases (release dates tba):

Caladan Brood/Emyn Muil-Split CD/LP
Eldamar-The Force of the Ancient Land 2LP

the split LP was announced in the middle of the last year if i'm not wrong.

I'm still hoping the Caladan Brood release will see a black vinyl repress in the future Wink
i have the splatter version but i don't like coloured vinyl very much.

Actually they are, but Caladan Brood are definitely not better.

It's been planned since at least 2014, if I remember correctly from talking to Emyn Muil around the time his first album came out.
