I was going to say something similar. It's not candelabra jerking occult wizardry wrapped up in ouroboros either.

As for the poll, BBH for me, no question. Though I'm only familiar with the first 3 scenes, and have no plan to change that.

I recommend at least looking into the Nidrosian scene. Mare and Celestial Bloodshed are essentials.

Yeah, if you're trying to get to sleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I wouldn't say any band of the nidrosian scene is essential

Well, I have heard Vemod quite a bit (guess they are part of the scene) and they are actually pretty good as far as nordic bm goes, but having been unimpressed by most of the hyped modern black metal (Mgla etc), I think I'm quite weary to check out new stuff (even though I might time to time if something catches my interest). Maybe it's an age thing, nothing excites me anymore as it did as a 17 y.o listening to Moonblood for the first time, just to give an example. Always been conservative about music anyway, I know what I like and that is more than enough. Not like I will ever run out of what to listen.

I might check out Mare though, if not for anything else than the bizarrely simple name.

Honestly i think Nagelreid is shyte..many may disagree but i don't feel it fits into the sound of Nitberg. I was so convinced of this i got rid of it 2 days after i bought it.

No.. Nagelreid is one of the best albums ever.

It's a good album, vocals are pretty unique, but it pales in comparison to most BBH at their peak, which is overall some of the most powerful, distinctive and spiritual black metal ever created. Ironically, I think in hindsight the communism might have helped to the atmosphere achieved in Russian scene, as it did nothing but to isolate Russians even more from the rest of the world, no matter the real inspiration for the scene lies elsewhere.

Was bopping around YouTube, I think a couple of the tracks I listened to were from Хладавзор.

Yes.

BBH sounds to me like they only had one dubbed tape with "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" on side A and "Transilvanian Hunger" on side B and combined these influences with harsh Sowjet youth, elite Balalaika training at the socialist music school, endless Taiga landscapes and Vodka-fueled racism.

Ah, well if you want to get more into them, just listen to Stormheit and then the full lengths chronologically. My favorites are probably Stormheit and Рдяндалир

What do you mean by "the Dutch," and are they an actual circle? Otherwise I'd be including options like Finland, who would then deserve to have the most votes because Goatmoon, Behexen, and Sargeist.
