I'm not a big fan but I do like their KISS cover on their major label release.

I like the Atlantic stuff the most. Particularly Houdini and Stoner Witch.

Bullhead is, but some of the stuff on Ipecac is pretty good, more rockin and less doom.
I have seen them four times and they are a fantastic live band.
The new Melvins Fantomas big band DVD is great.
You think Dave Lombardo had chops in Slayer?
You will be amazed at his insanity on this one.

Really can't lose with the pre-Atlantic stuff + "Houdini".

Also thought the "A Senile Animal" collab record with BIG BUSINESS was an excellent comeback.

Agreed fully. That live show with two drummers was killer!

Houdini, Stoner Witch, Lysol, and The Maggot are my favourite albums from The Melvins.

I saw them 2 times on that tour. I was not looking foward to the two drummer thing, but turns out it was fucking killer. Instead of showing off chops they were both locked in a deadly groove. I just stood there
without any motion staring because it was so impressive.

As for fave albums, where is the love for hostile ambient takeover?

Definitely Ozma. I love how chaotic and short the songs are. Same goes with Gluey and 10 songs for that matter.

I would say the Egg Nog/Bullhead/Lysol era would be a good example of the closest they got to "doom". Lysol is actually my least favorite of theirs and I tend to disagree with alot of people on that.
