Bolt Thrower are easily the best live act I've seen, even after all these years... their two shows at MDF this year were the stuff of legend!

Runners-up include Sabbat JPN (a close second!), Slough Feg, Destroyer 666, Gospel of the Horns, Asphyx, and Revenge.

Of course MAIDEN are one of the best bands live!
I have to agree with some of the posts here, they were amazing on the Somewhere Back in Time tour! Probably the best show I've ever been too.

Also, KING DIAMOND rules live! NO doubt about it.
I'll have to add DIO onto the list as well as VENOM. Although they are not what they were before (Venom), their last show here in L.A. was excellent. If you were there, you'd know.

maiden might be "good" but the surroundings were all filled by dating couples, metal dad with their daughters, etc the whole scenario is like a watered down michael jackson gig Smile

Celtic Frost in Orlando '06. The sound guy did a fucking fantastic job and I've yet to hear a band sound as heavy and intense as they did that night. They basically played most of the first two albums in Hellhammer-ish, sleazy renditions and a few songs off Monotheist. All of this was made even better seeing how whiskey shots, lines of coke and Tom Warrior trying (trying being the keyword) to get tough with Vaz from Black Witchery were involved. Anyone who knows the guy will understand that this would've probably ended with Warrior not playing guitar for a year if it wasn't for Martin Ain's intervention.

Drunk-as-shit Vaz trying to tell Warrior something complimentary after the show, Warrior being an overly sensitive sissy and getting defensive telling him to 'back off' and asuming some silly fighting stance because he was too close to their bus, Vaz getting loud and calling him a wimpy faggot, Ain stepping in to calm the situation down, Warrior darting into his tour bus going 'I don't need this shit. The guy totally overreacted and it was pretty comical.

Anyone from Black Witchery being involved = rowdiness.

I'm at a bit of a loss here... Having started seeing bands in 1990 you'd think more would spring to mind, but I'm kinda struggling to think of shows I was totally floored by.

Sad Ex 1995
Destroyer 666 - virtually ALL their pre Euro relocation Australian shows were gold!
Nunslaughter - 2003 I guess it was
Destruktor - 2004
Iron Maiden - 2007

I did see Sepultura in on the Arise tour, Kreator on the renewal tour, Morbid Angel on the Domination tour which was really cool except the sound was kinda low and you could hear a hum of chatter over the crowd... Corpse Molestation in '93, Acheron (Australia in '92) Bestial Warlust - probably every Melbourne show they did. None of it springs to mind as being earth shattering somehow. Not sure if it's the annals of time, or my benchmark for a great show has become absurd over the years...
