The first 2 classic LPs are great examples of wicked thrash metal, especially Hymn.
As already stated the demos are really obscure and refer mainly to MESSIAH diehards.
If interested in their Death Metal period, then check Psychomorphia first.

I'd say it depends which style you prefer... first two albums are unhinged, sloppy black/thrash. Evil and primitive (for me, almost too primitive). Starting with the "Psychomorphia" EP they turned into a tighter death/thrash machine, reminiscent of Massacra, Merciless, Agressor, and bands like that. "Choir of Horrors" is their best work in that vein.

If you aren't too sure, I'd say grab "Choir of Horrors" and one of the first two - "Extreme Cold Weather" would probably get my vote.

I love both styles, so I guess I'll pick up anything I find by them. Cool

Choir of Horrors LP I buyed for 2 DM years ago because it had a water damaged cover. The intro and the start of the first song are among the best ever ! But I think the demo material is average at best, did expect a bit more from it.

I still need "'Hymn to Abramelin"!
Been watching a copy of it on Ebay but it's located in Brazil and the complete total w/ s/h to USA will be a little over $23!

I feel that's too much for a CD. .
I was also told that it's almost the same thing from the 'Powerthrash' demo CD release (despite the recording sound and all), True?

Have been mad about this band since I bought ECW in 1988. Each post-ECW album is okay - good, but when I want to hear Messiah, I listen to ECW and HtA...and now the demos LP.

I heard from Broggi a few years back. He was working on a new project, kinda along the lines of his Cruise Missile recording (at least to me). Then he fell silent again.

Messiah are one of my all time favorite Swiss metal bands. I haven't heard the stuff that came out after Extreme Cold Weather but that album and everything else that came out before it is damn solid.

Yes, I have it. Great demo with some old Messiah ideas still left. Didn't like the vocalist that much, though the last track "Defcon 1" is outstanding.
