Lord of the Rings didn't help shit as far as I know...maybe all that 'tourism' money went straight to the government to hand out to the bunch of homeless cunts that constantly plague my existence by being RIGHT outside my fucking apartment or helping fund islanders for pointless trips overseas to study hip-hop in America. It sure didn't end up as a tax cut for the working joe, or maybe it went to the interest-free student loans which I currently benefit/rely on Razz

Ah, bah humbug.

Well, if you consider all these mall-core/grind 'Deeds of Flesh' wannabes or all the Immortal/Darkthrone clones then yeah we have heaps of metal in NZ...

You stil have Diocletian and Dawn of Azazel at least. They are two killer NZ bands. Oh.. and those funny bastards from Demoniac ages ago. Wasn't really into their music but they had some funny tales.

I was just looking at Demoniac on Metal Archives to see what happened to them out of curiosity. I knew they had moved to England... but according to MA, after breaking up Demoniac they formed Dragonforce haha So it's you New Zealanders that's responsible for that crap! Wink

I'm pretty sure Sam from Dragonforce was always english and just lived here during his teenage/Demoniac years..I don't count him as a NZer per se. As for Dawn of Azazel, I'm not sure if you've heard the latest stuff but definitely not a fan. Old stuff was killer though.

I was just having a joke about the NZ/Dragonforce thing Wink

Yeah the old Dawn of Azazel stuff is killer! Twisted and heavy... I haven't heard what they are doing these days though.

It's pretty lame IMO, the latest stuff sounds like a rip off Hate Eternal mixed with some Chaos AD Sepultura, Sedition sounded rushed and trying to sound like Angel Corpse but ended up sounding like Korn in some bits...no surprises there since they were support for them here in NZ.

Besides the music, they're good dudes. I don't agree with most of what Rigel says nowadays but he's always supported my band. Just a shame that the first European tour seemed to have warped his views on metal almost entirely.

I'm awaiting tracks from 5 or 6 bands and I can send this fucker off to press. I'll keep all interested parties informed.

I personally didn't hear much which sounded like Korn on Sedition. Sounded more like death metal in the vein of Angelcorpse. Personally, I think Sedition is quite a good album, but not as good as the first album.

How so do you mean it has warped his views on metal? What has he been saying about metal?

Just how he had a militant attitude towards the music, imagery etc. Now he's saying Death Metal is just rock and roll in disguise or something like that in one of the latest interviews.

Like I said earlier, I don't have a problem with the dude personally. I just find it strange how there was a sudden style change (from music to imagery/interviews etc.) which happened after the first European tour.
